You're wrong about how they do stuff. A ninja and a samurai are not that different tbh, it would be more up to the individual than the specific fighting style. A ninja would be more likely to use methods the samurai would consider cheating though.

i think a cooler fight would be the best of the best of todays peeps having a fight. say a US Special forces and a Deutsch G13 or British SAS/SBS. maybe a royal rumble wud be cool. throw in some ninjas, some samuries and russel crow, and have some phun.

You forgot the best in the world, the Swedish SGS (Sőrskilda Skyddsgruppen) they have several times whopped all other oponents in different styles of exercises and operations :)

This thread's already gone to hell, but I just wanna say that the ninja would win due to tricks that the Samurai would rather die than counter. They would attack enemies regardless of the odds, because they would rather die than betray their code of charging forward.

Duh, the Samurai, havent you ever watched anime?
Just when the Ninja looks to be winning the Samurai has faith in himself and uses some kind of flashy, siezure inducing, special move and the ninja is shreaded apart, its science....
Oh and for the thread hijack #2 id say American special forces, but only because of carrier support... without carrier support, Isreali special forces 4tw, they are simply devastating (im not joking). It could be a tie between Israeli special forces, and Girkas (spelling?) you know, Turkish guys, long knives, dont use guns cause theyre too noisey ...

I think you are all making the simple mistake of awesomeness. The balance of awesome in this equation is so far in favour of the ninja, that I crapped myself.
Remember, a ninja once flipped out and killed a town, just because some guy opened a window. Ninjas invented flying, and after they have defeated every pirate (who aren't awesome at all) in the ninja universe (and the pirate universe) they will pork hot chicks and wail on their electric guitars so hard I wouldn't be surprised if we died on the spot of awesome overload.

Ninja : Good at assassination, espionage etc
Samuraj : Good at fighting, good at detecting assassination attempts etc
If they are both masters, they will probably both die before anyone else is able to notice that there was a fight. If not, it's up to their individual skills.
Sneaking up on your victim does not help very much if he is able to sense the attack, and very few people knows how to hide their intention so that the target doesn't notice what's going on. And even if you know how to do it, actually being able to to do it while fighting is very very difficult.
