I was thinking of the new mining buff's and it seems that ship designing is not keeping pace with improvements, now that we can fit lots of ore the problem is moving it, freighters of course....not all of us can fly much less afford one and even if i could i won't be because too much ganking of freighters otherwise a smaller faster ship say a t2 industrial could fit lots of compressed ore, or just make compressing ore at stations an option. so many orders for veld...so little time, sigh. |

You want the game to be changed because you don't want to buy a freighter.
You CHOSE not to use the solution presently in game.

The way I see it you have a load of options already available to you, It's just up to you which to take.
* Refine the ore and move it, it'll take up much less space. * Get a Rorqual and compress it * It sounds like you are rolling around filling veld buy orders? why not just put a sell order up in your system and let them come to you?

No. -1 Ok, your opinion...you know i have great caldari faction standings with almost all factions, i have perfect refining skills / mining skills so yeah i do fine even without it, so -1,000,000,000,000,000,000 X a billion trillion to the 10th power on you, can we grow up here, its a convenient thing, more industrials carrying compressed ore think of the opportunity for things to get done, isk to be made, and ganks to be made...now go troll. |

That's what i do is refine, sell trit. Compressing would make it simpler, if this is not a good ideal then why? |

No. Buy a freighter. Hisec has disadvantages, not being able to compress ore is one of them.
Also, 900k m3 of veld is 9 million units. At current buy order prices (per Eve-Central, in Jita) of ~17 ISK per unit, that's 153 million ISK, or approximately 1/10 of the ISK-tank of a freighter (i.e. it's not worth ganking you).
edit, if you're selling Trit (~6 ISK per unit) rather than the veld ... 90m trit per run is 540m, or about half your ISK tank (i.e. it's STILL not worth ganking you). |

you cant compress ore in WH? Why not it 0.0 but i cannot see how compressing it would ruin anything even an orca still leaves mining op to dump off ore in station and come back, nothings changed the mining op rolls on compression or no compression, . |

You want to compress the trit? or compress veldspar in high sec?
either way is not needed and will do nothing to improve game play.
Such a change would make logistics easier for everyone not just you. This would quickly result in dropping prices to the point where profits are right back to where they are now. Freighter full of high volume low value minerals such as trit do not get ganked. It is the freighters carrying over 2 bil worth of cargo that get ganked. And even then not if the gankers need to bring a freighter or 20 indys to haul the loot.
If you think moving minerals around in high sec in difficult go live in deep null for a while. moving stuff in high sec is very easy and very low risk. Why don't you just ask for teleportation. One click and all you goods are instantly in Jita.
Sorry no hello kitty online here where everything is done for you at a single mouse click.. This game is not supposed to be that easy. A challenging game is a fun game. Making one of the simplest game activities even more simple would not in any way improve EVE. |

Sorry Piugattuk, I'm primarily a miner on my main, and I have to agree with everyone here and go with a 'No' as well. Compression is designed to help people in 0.0 / low sec get their ores to market. They can not use freighters, and JF's / indy runners have much less room. They are forced to go by jumps, speed, and / or stealth, paying the price in size of cargo they can bring with them.
In high sec compression is nothing but a convenience, but freighters make up for that. Hell, I sometimes even autopilot my freighter to market, something I would never dream of doing when I move stuff around in low-sec.

Ah,
So many flaws with your logic, I don't know where to begin.
First, and people can correct me if I'm wrong (which i probably am) but the mining barge changes didn't dramatically change how much m3/hour a particular barge can mine. Largely it made it easier for some barges with large ore bays to stay in the belts for longer stretches.
Second, a freighter full of veldspar (take an obelisk at all 5's) will hold about 160mil worth of Veld (as others have pointed out). you aren't going to get ganked for that size of cargo.
Third, lets say you want to use a T2 indy to haul compressed veldspar instead. A cargo fit occator is going to hold about 255mil worth of compressed veld. and it doesnt have that great of a tank, so it is likely a higher gank target than the freighter. Especially with that nice 20sec align time.
You can't fly a freighter? If you can fly a T2 industrial you are generally maybe a week from a freighter. So that argument doesnt work.
If you cant fly a freighter, you likely dont have the ore compression skills needed to a rorqual (or any future ore compressing ship).
Given the Rorquals cost and restrictions, do you really think a high sec version would be more affordable than a freighter?
I've seen others in this forum already talk about the compression costs and how it doesnt really make it worthwhile in high sec due to low profit margins.
I could probably go on, but I'm bored now. |

Nobody really want to gank a trit filled freighter. Most gank are about teh value of your cargo anyway since no module drop off freighter. If you don't do anythign stupid, you would only really ahve to fear the tear farming gankers. It's not like all that many people go out of thier way to kill a freighter if there is no money to be done looting it. |

...why are you not saving your ISK to buy a freighter? It's not cheap (about 1.5B ISK), but it's not *that* much, and you can skill into one in a month or so. Why the agony? Just go with a freighter and use the Orca for its intended purpose. There's no need for an ore-compression feature in hisec -- which is where the Orca is intended to run. Nullsec needs ore compression, and that's what the Rorqual is for.
If you don't want to spend the time skilling for a freighter (a bad mistake if you're a miner or trader), then just pay Red Frog to move the ore for you.

Naw, what you really want is to pester the crap out of the Devs to create T2 Orca that is simply bigger and better than the current Orca.
More Ore hold, more Corp Hangar, more Ship Maintenance... mining fleets are simply getting bigger by virtue of the vast ore holds on some ships...not to mention how tough the smaller barges are... so time to buff the Fleet Support ship to accommodate these changes.
And I wouldn't mind seeing a T2 Orca with the ability to accept one Fuel Block bpo/bpc and churn out fuel blocks provided that all the constituent materials are onboard in the cargo bay.

Have been a freighter pilot for ~3.5 years now. This has never happened to me.

He's operating in ~5 systems, and apparently if you buy a "pass" from him, you get no bumping. Welcome to the sandbox.

Have you not seen the idiocy of the forum-going miners?
Recent Example: (miners)Holy **** CCP!! it's not fair that I can't tank a dessie with ZERO ******* TANK MODS WHILST BEING AFK (CCP) Hmm ... maybe you're right ... here's some revamped barges (miners) WHAT THE ****!? YOU MADE THE HULK NOT KING OF AFK!!!
I'm a miner (proof is on publicly viewable certificates) ... though I agree with all the so-called "greifers" on the forums who are telling the carebears they're doing it wrong when their only belief is "I should be able to play how I want without any interference from anyone else" |

Sigh...never mind, not like cloaky nuets sitting in their systems don't bother tough dull sec people either and they are asking for nerfs, but when you finally get bumped so you cannot align over and over again just for lol, have a good time with your good buddies. End of topic its off track, please ISD lock it already its pointless whining now. |

It's unfortunate that you consider all of this discussion "whining" and cry yourself for ISD to lock the thread. If you want a yes or no answer, try the help chat. It seemed from your original post that you were looking for a discussion about your idea for an ore-compressing orca ( and thus brought it up on a FORUM). Apparently, the consensus is that it's not the greatest idea, and somehow this has offended you. It is a forum (ongoing discussion, debate, etc.) that I found insightful (thanks for providing the topic of discussion). The only "whining" I read, was yours.
I too, had been thinking that a compresso-orca would be cool, but now that I have a better picture of its ROLE, not such a hot idea. Again, thanks for presenting the topic of discussion for this forum. |

Hmm, instead of compression i would love industry module for orca that would allow it to build stuff. Deploy, load materials if they fit, run blueprint on manufaturing, wait online and makesure out dont run out of what ever that module eats. [Insert something funny or smart here] |
