Hagilur space, ahhh, almost home after travelling many jumps. Oh? whats this I see on my scanner? My friends from the red corsairs! out to welcome me, so I think. heheh
One of them private messaged me, (red corsairs: -100 isk, SOtec: 0 isk) stop and send money and you may (yawn) pass. says some person, fergot the name, I tell them to bugger off. As I am on my way to finalize my leaving. OH? says the intrepid pirate, if you are leaving, give me all your stuff! Then you may jump.
Given this choice, i chose to not jump and commenced to disrupt their pirate activities in the system. Over the next several hours, I single handedly lost 27 rookie ships, and a whole bunch of nothing in my cargo. This was Tuesday night. Intermittently, throughout the night I get several more private chat requests, which I gladly accepted, spacefaring can be boring at times, and I enjoy a nice conversation with anyone.
So the score is... (corsairs -400isk Sotec: 0 isk)
Towards the end of the night, there is only one red corsair left at the gate, he must have tuned me out for some reason or another, when a maller comes trucking by, and commences to fire upon the pirate ship, eventually helping me in destroying it, I think it was a blackbird or something...
(corsairs: -cost of ship, -400isk Sotec: 0isk)
Wednesday night, I am leaving Evati on my way to pick up some scattered gear I was giving away when jumping into Hagilur I find my friends from the previous night there at the anher gate to wish me a fond bon-voyagy or so I thought. But they commenced to get in my way yet again. SO I set upon them with all the wrath a reaper can gather, about 10 times this time.
Only ten times because, I get a private message from a GM, he says that folks have filed petitions against me for disturbing them (red corsairs). Anyway, I tells the GM that, I am doing the area a service by distracting pirates. The previous night, 2 spacefarers managed to jump to Anher due to pirate inattention. And I would leave the pirates alone if they left the area too becuase this was the second night in a row they were there. Eventually the official word came down that a guy in a rookie ship disrupting pirate activity is ok.
I am sticking around till my account runs out because they wont refund my remaining time on the subscription. My Corp, SOS Unlimited will be offering a new service, gladly. THis will be the recon of any gate, in any system, in any region. For free. All I ask is to be informed of the location of any and all pirate activity that i may go out and meet them myself.

They petitioned?!?!?! And the GM's actually took the time to take care of it? They really have to get their priorities straight...

m0o blockade in FD-MLJ, knock yourself out
Red Corsairs actually petitioned against you for having to blow you up so many times? Man, now THATS lame. I figured pirates couldnt get enough of this kinda stuff. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

The GM that investigated the situation there was pretty cool. He was curious about what I was doing, I got the impression that he didnt know all the details as he was shocked to find out I was in a rookie ship.
Yes Digital, I heard about that and investigated it briefly, I ran into several of them in that system you mentioned, and only managed to destroy myself once.

Wonderful - I love the idea of chasing after pirates in a n00b ship - rofl.
"Come on then - what are you going to do - SHOOT ME?"
That's made my morning, the others in the office will have to put up with my stifled chuckles all day now. Thanks Sotec.
Edit - I am now crying with laughter at my desk after having re-read "single-handedly losing 27 n00b ships"

The funny thing is, all you're doing is emulating NPC behavior. You're taking a ship that has little, if any, chance of winning reapeatedly up against superior ships again and again.
I can certainly see why a player behaving like an NPC would be harassment.

I still think it's funny though. If there's room in the game for murderous sociopaths, why not make some space for the lunatics as well?

I think its great. He's obviously having a blast. And to be fair, if a noob ship is really bothering the pirstes that much, they really don't have any business baing pirates. And to boot, he's actually helping some people to get past the blockade.

Hey ! Sounds just like me in Poitot where the silly Gang were trying to blockade!
2 shuttles and a Velator were sacrificed while trying to teach The Gang how negotations work (they involve counter-offers) etc.
I might do it again actually in the same spirit as you did, I'll just move my cloning contract to Poitot and resume "harassing" them. Lets see if they file a petition as well... -- Champion of user friendlieness and proper information distribution Defender of newbies EVE knowledgeBase |

What I was doing was officially stated as not being harassment. What? you want npc pirates take out cause they harass?
Anyway, the pirate corps i have run across destroy new players in their rookie ships all the time, for pittance. I just letting them have what they desire, more ships instead of having to wait for an unsuspecting innocent to come across their path.
Raudka, the proper term is "disrupting pirate activity".

Personally I think what Sotec is doing is completely and utter bullsh*t. And if anything the GMs should have warned him, suspended him and banned him for continuing.
You want a definition of griefing, look at what he's doing. He has cancelled and is using his remaining time in the game to do nothing but harass people. And it doesn't f'ing matter if the people he's doing it to are player pirates.
Some people just beg to be f'ing fired from their jobs.

BS he is not greifing anyone. if the rats gaurding the gate dont like what he is doing they dont have to fire on him. just ignore him. In this situation noone is making the Corsairs do anything so how the hell is that griefing.

Interesting thread.
I actually only found out about this incident just then when I was sorting frozen corpses in the meat locker. I was bewildered to find 27 corpses of Sotec!
I think the whole thing is a little overblown. Yes we were gate camping, Yes he was obviously a suicidal lunatic, No, the blackbird you claim to have destroyed wasn't a corsair, but was a Caldari pilot. All Corsairs are Minmatar if you hadn't noticed.
I actually believe the petition was filled because of excessive garbage on local.

I can't believe you would call this griefing, Jash. He's not forcing them to kill him over again. He's not ruining their playing time. If the pirates are really that upset, why don't they just move on? It's not like there aren't other gates to camp. Isn't that what you told all those people who had a problem with the m0o blockade? Just don't go there? He's not even preventing them from doing what they want. A Reaper isn't going to be able to hurt them.
If pirates are going to get upset by people telling them they are bad people, maybe they should get a new career.

ROFLMAO!!! This is the funniest thing ive ever read on the forums. Even funnier is that the griefing gate rapists actually consider that harrassment. I mean, they could simply ignore the guy and go on about their business, but because they couldnt bear to hear him post on the forums about how he broke through their blockade in a noob ship, they are forced to again and again take time to destroy him. TOO funny.
3 cheers for Sotec !!! I tell you what Sotec, dont cancel your account. Go recruit a bunch of like-minded individuals and for a corp, and my corp will HIRE you to go do the same thing on a larger scale wherever gate campers pop up their ugly heads. LOL

Yes he is. He is doing this with the sole purpose of annoying them and you know it. Let's not play favorites here and pretend that's not his intention simply because it's against a player pirate. He is using the time remaining on his subscription to do nothing but annoy others still playing the game. If he was attacking n00bs in the exact same manner, with absolutely nothing to lose as he had already cancelled his account, you'd be crying bloody murder and screaming for bloodier justice.
Anything more than a half assed investigation into it on the GM's part should have resulted in him being told to give it a rest. And that's steadily becoming my entire problem with CCP: their BS bias. They put piracy into the game, like it or not. They have no right to turn around and punish pirates, either through direct action or inaction on their parts for playing the f'ing game.
And I've already gone past fed up with the carebear nonsense being slung around worse than ***** in the monkey house. You people CHOSE this game, which has a heavy PvP element. None of it was hidden from any of you. But you cannot rest apparently until you get every single element of risk pushed so that all there is left to worry about is some stupid NPC AI that 9 year olds can whip to pieces (I know because I sold some kid's mother shield boosters for her 9 year old's ship). Is that what people really want? The biggest challenge in the game to be how long they can mine or watch the warp drive effects before putting their face through the monitor to relieve the tedium?
At least the player pirates provide some excitement when they're around.

I am? As I told the first pirate to private message me, that I was on my way to prepare to leave the game, they initiated the hostilities, leave me to my war and you go on about your business.
Quote: "...the time remaining on his subscription to do nothing but annoy others still playing the game." Unless you are continuously watching what I do, That claim is totally incorrect.
Quote: "Go recruit a bunch of like-minded individuals and for a corp, and my corp will HIRE you"
I wish I could activate more than one clone of me at a time! Then I could take up a profession I really would enjoy more than disrupting piracy. Like...Mining. But that would be costly as the number of container thieves grow, then I would have to disrupt their thieving and require more clones of myself to handle that issue....hmmm gee its a vicious cycle...

Just going by your own words, Sotec:
"I am sticking around till my account runs out because they wont refund my remaining time on the subscription. My Corp, SOS Unlimited will be offering a new service, gladly. THis will be the recon of any gate, in any system, in any region. For free. All I ask is to be informed of the location of any and all pirate activity that i may go out and meet them myself."
And as I said if you were to do the same thing to someone straight out of Pator Tech, both the GMs and this playerbase would be all over you. But nobody likes player pirates so anything done to them is fair game, eh? I think that's BS, I know you're full of BS on this one and (as I said in another post that was deleted) I think CCP is in dire need of an enema because their CS is too full of BS.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
