Hey there,
I want to buy a perfect Nomad pilot. My minimum requirements are:
- not a scamming/thief char
- positive or at least neutral sec. status
- positive or at least neutral wallet
- following all CCP rules
and thats the minimum skills:
Spaceship Command V
Minmatar Industrial V
Industry V
Navigation V
Warp Drive Operation V
Science V
Jump Drive Operation V
Jump Drive Calibration V
Advanced Spaceship Command V
Minmatar Freighter V
Jump Freighters V
Energy Systems Operation V
Energy Management V
Evasive Maneuvering V
Mechanics V
Shield Operation V
Shield Management V
Tactical Shield Manipulation V
Hull Upgrades V
Thats a one year skill plan (with specific remapping and +2 implants). Im willing to pay 7 bil for a char like that. That covers the PLEX costs for a year as well as the skill books (~270mil) and a set of +2 implants and still leaves more than 750 mil on top for adding the skills to the queue during that year.

Your char is nice. And I would buy it. But its lacking some of the core skills I want to have and instead has skills I just dont need and are not willing to pay for. I would have to invest another 3 month of training time to make it being close to what Im looking for.
I cannot pay 8 bil for that. I would pay a max. of 7 bil. |

at current plex price the game time is ~7.3b
the xfer fee is 1.15b
the skill books are 300m
the implants are 100m
so you want someone to juggle a 1 year 1 month plan specifically tailored to do this exact thing, and you want it for almost 1b under the actual cost

The prices for the skills are lower then you calculated (by 14 mil isk), the time needed for the training plan (including the cybernetics skill) is by far lower as well (+3 its 366 days; +4 its 352 days) and you only have to remap ONCE. With all remaps used you can safe another 20 days...
One year of PLEX was about 6.3bil ISK (dont take nowadays prices - the char should be already trained - Avg. for PLEX in the last 12 month was something like 520mil)
Skillbooks are: 286.100.000 ISK (and you can get them cheaper if you are not dump buying them in Jita)
Implants: ~100mil (And, as I said, Im willing to pay extra for good implants...)

Sum: 6.686.100.000 ISK
Transfer is about 1.15 bil (at nowadays prices)
Makes it: 7.836.100.000 ISK
That means, if someone wants to get rid of his JF char he is still making money with it (163.900.000) if he sells it for 8 bil. All costs included. As I do not include transfer fees in my initial calculation (cause Im the client, I dont have to care about your costs at all) I came up with over 1.5 bil of revenue in my initial calculation...
So at the end, you are just a troll providing free bumps... thanks for that.

I guess this is a little off topic, but while I understand what you're saying here, this is hardly true. Consider two people--one with a JF alt they are training, and one without. Both decide to buy 1 plex per month at whatever the price is during that month, and the one with the JF alt uses that plex to pay for that account, and the one who does haven't a JF account simply hordes the plexes.
It is clear that if the price of plex goes up, the guy hording the plexes will make a profit if he sells the plexes, because his investment appreciated in price.
With the same logic, considering that plex = SP in the sense that you pay isk for training time, the price of SP should appreciate over time, and thus, the price of a character.
It doesn't really make sense for you to value a character at anything other than current plex prices. It's like saying that a car you bought and paid monthly installments of 1000 USD for for a total of 20 months or whatever is worth 20,000 USD (assuming there are no factors of used car depreciation, this is just an example), EVEN IF the US dollar had inflated over those 20 months to be worth half as much--which would make the actual value of the car 40,000 USD.
I'm not here to make comment on what price you believe is fair for buying the character you wish to buy, but I am here to make comment on the lack of sense of people believing it is "fair" to value characters on older plex prices. |
