After doing a bunch of missions with a lvl 3 agent, I figured I'd try out one the the lvl 4 hauling missions.
So I scout out a lvl 4 manufacturing dept (-16 stats) and try and get a hauling mission.
I only have a hauler in the station and have been doing nothing but hauling missions for my lvl 3 manufacturing dept agent with the same setup.
However, all he wants to offer me is lvl 4 Kill missions.
Anyone else worked out how to get a lvl 4 hauling mission? Am I doing something dumb?

you really want to haul 100k m3? i will admit the lp rewards for lvl4 hauling missions seemed pretty sweet the last time i was doing them. however ive found when i want to do a kill mission the agent gives me a hauling mission, if by some odd chance i wanted a hauling mission im sure id only get kill missions.
you could keep at this one agent, or perhaps switch to a marketing agent? something in another department. ---------------------

yeah I could go find another agent but this agent is 1 jump from my lvl 3 manufacturing agent...
So I don't need to move too far between agents to switch between lvl 3 and lvl 4.
I thought that the agents were supposed to check which ship you were using before giving an appropriate mission?

ive heard of agents checking ship types but tbh ive never heard an official word. i think the biggest factor on what type of missions you get is determined by the department as we all know. there used to a thread started by S'Daria I believe that gave rough percentages of which department gave which type of mission. There were no hard numbers, it was mainly just everyones word. I used to do hauling missions for Lai Dai in Haajinen all the time. Always got hauling missions so if that helps you good luck :) ---------------------

This character accepts the missions. I do my killing with another account. With this character I always accept the missions in either an Itty 5 or a shuttle. I don't think it checks what type of ship you have because I get probably about 60/40 courier/kill ratio for a manufacturing agent. I will say they seem to string together though. I'll get 5 couriers in a row and then 4 kills in a row. Who knows.

hmm, well that sux badly.
So does anyone who does hauling missions have an lvl 4 agent who does give them purely hauling missions?
Or is it always a % of missions are hauling and a % are kill?

Edited by: Goldar on 09/03/2005 21:41:59 I use a level 4 manufacturing agent. I would say that around 70% of the missions I get are kill missions, 25% are hauling and 5% are procurement missions. The "streak factor" that someone mentioned above certainly rings true for me as well, the last 4 missions I've had, have been kill and on occassions I've had the elephantine haul mission 3, sometimes 4, times in a row.
Pre exodus you could almost guarantee you would get 90% hauling missions with this type of agent.
Personally I dont understand the reasoning behind the increase in kill missions for almost every division. It kinda makes having seperate divisions within each corp redundant.
Am off to do my second vengeance mission in a row
PS almost forgot to mention, the ship you are in used to have an effect on the type of mission you would receive, however this feature was removed sometime ago. |

Fourth level agents are a lot smarter--they know you have a battleship stashed in another station.

It is strange that the gap between Lvl 3 and Lvl 4 non-kill missions is so enormous. Most Lvl 3 agent non-kill missions require probably 600m3 of space, whereas Lvl 4s always seem to demand +80000m3 of space.
Because I can't progress to Lvl 4 hauling missions effectively, I've switched over to kill mission agents simply to move my standings up faster. To me though, killing npcs is no different from shooting roids, only less profitable usually. I'd just as soon do the afk task that lets me work on a book or something. I can read while I npc, but I can't also scibble notes while I'm doing so.
We don't have the station to station transports yet, so where is the middle ground?

Im using a level 4 q17 storage agent. He gives bout 60/40 hauling/courier and kill missions. You may just have a bad run with your agent. The level 4 courier and hauls are not so bad, they give nice lp and rewards and tbh they sometimes are better per hour than kill missions if you wanna rack up lp. That depends a lot on the mix of missions of course. 10k lp in a few hours playing is no problem. Finding an agent that only gives level 4 courier might be hard though.

The next patch will make the manufacturing division, along with archives, production and accounting, completely non-kill mission oriented. The rest of the "courier" type of divisions, such as Storage, will still have a chance of dishing out kill missions.

Ah that's sweet,
Thanks for the reply Zrakor, much appreciated.
I think a few people would like this and don't want to lose thier agent bonus' because they have to turn down agent missions.
