As a researcher i would like very much to know the following:
1- How many BPOs of each module/ship are being released and how often.
2- The total amount of RP's in the pot for the lottery on each certain field. (to calculate my odds)
I don't need to know who got what, but i for sure don't understand all this secrecy by CCP about the R&D lottery.
Care to explain it?

on a more serious note - I would also like to know the answers to the original questions.
Maybe t20 could set up a research & technology section on the website and have a running readout of what has been discovered, and if the people who win the bpo's agree, who discovered it.
It might also be handy to show which research fields have what bpo's listed in them on here for people who are considering getting into research to know what they need and what they might get.

i agree with aelius. more info on r/d needs to given. i personally have spent months of training on r/d, and have over 150k in research points and not gotten a bpo yet. i would like to know my chances or at least when the lottery is held so i can see some kind of progress.

One reason might be to counter easy monopolies. Currently, if you have three BPO's of a type, you don't know if there is onle one extra BPO out there, or five. Sure, you can guess, but you'll agonize over it. Some newbie might be waiting out there, stockpiling, waiting for the right moment...

keep a few things random CCP it prevents the players adapting strategies to get the most out of the various BPO related stuff

You actually have to run the missions i think, to be in the daily lottery, If you just leave your agent researching on her/his ownm i dont think u'll ever get one.

Nope... you can get a BPO even if you've never done a mission for that R&D agent

RPs and an 'active' research project are all you need.
Odds though ... well, I'd imagine there are rather a lot of R&D researchers out there... Even if just half the playerbase was researching, the odds of getting 'winning' one of the 'few' per week are pretty low.
Hardly a suprise really, given the desireablilty of a T2 BPO. They sell for astronomical sums, and that's working in the assumption that you don't want to take the item to market yourself, and establish a monopoly.

Nope, a RL friend in another corp has now received 2 T2 BPO's by having his lvl3 agent doing some RD. First BPO was at 27K RP and the next at 35K.
He has never even done a mission for the agent.

As much as both you and I liked the transparency that this information offered the research system, it was taken away as game design thought it was too much info & also too OOC...as was told to you here.
