How are you going to address pirates that are currently trapped in .5 space?
Will you port them to non empire space or do you just want us to throw our ships at the sentry guns?
I'm getting reports that the guns are tearing pirate ships apart that are traveling through .5 sec space.
I think we deserve to have an official post on what you feel the vision for pirates is in the Eve universe now.

Sounds quite fair to me. Pirates should be hunted down in empire space ruthlessly. No mercy should be given, and they should not be allowed to dock at stations and the police should actively hunt them down.
That is the realistic life of an outlaw. A fugitive. Before this patch, pirates had it easy.

Yeah really, travel in a pod if you dare, beyond that the pirates brought these consequences on themselves given their actions.

It would be so nice for you all to take a step out of the game and actually see that a legitimate question was asked.
Leave your flames and non constructive comments on the general board.

I understand your legitimate concerns with leaving .4 and .5 space with your ships. But unlike previous patches, everyone was warned about the incoming changes to the sentry guns.
This was in no way a surprise.

Okay let me make this clear. This isn't about me. This is about any person with -5.0 status that hasn't been reading the board, who may have been on vacation, or they didn't catch the last minute add on to todays patch.
To my knowledge, this change was only mentioned by a dev a couple of days ago and he said it MAY make the patch.
A couple of days is hardly plenty of time for people who are causual players.
*EDIT*
here was the original post which happened on 7/2/03
Posted - 02/07/2003 10:02:00 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, after some changes to the relevant code yesterday I now know I mislead you :(
If you lose security status within their range, the sentry guns around both stations and stargates should already be attacking you.
I have made some additional changes to this yesterday at the request of game design:
- Stargate sentry guns will now be in all systems >= security level 0 (they only appeared at something like 0.4 and above before this).
- Stargate sentry guns in 0.45 and above space will attack outlaws (-5 or less security status) on sight.
- Station sentry guns will attack anyone within range who loses or recently lost standing from the NPC corporation who owns that station or from the faction that corporation belongs to.
- Stargate sentry guns will attack anyone within range who loses or recently lost standing from the faction who the solarsystem belongs to.
This may make it into the patch.

Who allowed the carebear morons to speak here?
I am not a pirate myself and got a -5.6 and can't play the game right now for the next 6 days.
And don't even ask me how I got -5.6 w/o being a pirate, cause it falls behind your imignation. ---

Crep, stop whining! You and your carebear pirate friends are gonna have to use *gasp* tactics.
I also like how you don't mind making allowances for casual gamers (assuming of course they are carebear pirates).
Here's how to escape the evil clutches of empire space for even the most carebear of l33t dood pirates:
Log on an alt.
Go to sector you wish to escape from.
Create bookmarks that drop on top of gate.
Either leave BM's in cargo container in the middle of nowhere (don't forget to BM that as well) or xfer to your main if you have that option.
Go pick up BMs
Use BMs
The guns cannot destroy you in that short of time (tested).
I'm very surprised that you couldn't come up with that on your own, considering you and other pirate corps just love bashing people who have problems navigating your blockades.

You are quite right Hematic, and that is of course precisely what we have done.
I also understand the mirth of the anti- pirates at this point in time.
However, it is a little absurd that we would have to resort to a basic exploit that has been in the game all too long in order to get around this immediate problem.
Be secure in the knowledge that we have not lost any material what-so-ever.

Wow, great response there Hem. Had you bothered to actually read what I wrote you would have noticed a few posts down that this wasn't about me and that it affected ANYONE, or NE1 for those who are too lazy to type it out, that has a security rating of -5.0 or below. The poster above Molly is a perfect example.
There is no whining in this post, it was a simple question nothing more yet this same simple question seemed beyond your grasp.
I find it so ironic that the most hateful attitudes in this game seem to come from non pirates.

Pirates trapped? What are we to do? We deserve...
I could swear that you or some of your cronies have bashed people on the boards when they've used this type dialogue to seek help with yours and other pirates' blockades.
Posts entitled here's how to run a blockade st00pid newbies etc... seem the norm when coming from pirates' mouths.
I felt it especially appropriate to add some of this same verbiage in order to see if the ones dealing could aslo handle it.
You posed the question and again reiterated it. Since you asked the question I felt a personal addressing applicable.
The gist of my post answerers exactly what you were asking without having to fly a pod as another person suggested.
Of course I do let out a sigh of disappointment when I hear your corp didn't lose anything.

What I find amusing is that the general mechanics of game play are being changed to the pirate's disadvantage because of the whining that always ensues from those that want to play a game like this with zero risk. It's amusing because it always happens. There isn't a MMORPG out there that hasn't been modified after release to help ease the strain on people that whine all the time. The reason PKs get ignored is because they are generally more experienced players and don't complain as much as the guy who just sits in 1.0 space for 3 weeks, buys a moa, think's he's one of the borg and then gets jacked in .3 space. The question as I understand it, is when are the pirates who are getting screwed going to be compensated and/or moved to unsecure space. If Piracy wasn't a legitimate enterprise in this game, than it never should have been allowed from the very beginning and I could have saved $50 by not buying a carebear game. PKs are people to, my subscription isn't free. Just because you get off shooting rocks while I get my chuckles out of shooting you, doesn't mean my concerns are irrelevant.

Gate campers are the real care bears sometimes, they sit at a gate and kill innocent travellers in the knowlege that if they ever get attacked, all they have to do is press 'Jump'. Now when the jumpgate won't save them they start posting about how it's not fair or how they might actually have to endure some damage for once.
Give me a break. I'm all for pvp in this game, and once the ability for you people to simply jump away from combat is taken from you, you will see pvp for the first time, and not this cowardly excuse for a fight you people are putting forth right now.
Flame me if you want, but I'm getting sick of your constant 'I'm an uber pirate and you're all just a bunch of whiny carebears' attitude. I'm not talking to you two in particular, but to pirates in general. What with your gloating and smack talking while you sit in the saftey of a jumpgate. Get a clue.
If CCP feels the need to delete this post then so be it, I only hope a few of you 'pirates' get a chance to read it before that happens. Good riddance.

The only thing we're missing now are sentry guns in the asteroid fields, that way, the carebears will be protected every where they go.
Travel SHOULD be dangerous. Now, it's not. You've got sentry guns protecting you at the station and the jumpgate. Like I said, if Piracy wasn't an acceptable vocation you shouldn't be allowed to shoot player ships in the first place.

Yeah, and you've still got a gauranteed means of escape from combat, get over it. There are no sentries in non-empire space, that's where the danger is and should be, that's the way it was always meant to be, don't start crying now that your actions are actually starting to have real consequences.

playing pirate in a .4 or .5 system is a real "carebear"... only easy kills, and if anything goes wrong, i jump...
why are u there? if u were real pirates and if u wanted to do PvP and not PvV (player versus victim), you'd go to 0.0 system and hunt cruisers.
my second agent was in a .5 or .4 system. imagine a new guy getting killed in his first new ship after a few days just because some d*m*a*s has been playing a few weeks longer and thinks that gives him some extra rights...
don't say you didn't want easy-as-possible kills. you wouldn't be stuck in a .4 / .5 system then.
you didn't want anyone else to have a chance, now you don't have a chance. just fair.

If .4/.5 space isn't unsecure.. it may as well just be 1.0 space. If this is how they're going to handle it, why even break it up.
As for the people who aren't really adding anything constructive here.. man, you guys are some sore losers. We do what we do because you are meek and do not stop us.

I have never lost a ship to a pirate, and you do what you do because attacking you is not possible right now. If you could not jump away from combat, I would come after you right now Padan and pod your *** into last Tuesday, but there's no point, as you know you'll simply jump away as soon as you start losing your armor. If you don't believe me, set a planet to meet at, alone, otherwise go back to your carebear tactics.
This is my last post here, I have no intention of forcing the mods to lock this thread because of any arguement that insues from myself pointing out the hypocrisy most pirates spout around here all too often. I have no pity for you being stuck in .5 systems, you brought this on yourselves, and it's only the tip of the iceburg. Have fun podkilling travellers when you are no longer able to run away like little girls whenever someone in a combat cruiser comes along to oppose you.

Sorry, I'm not in a pirate corp, but I will say they have their place in the universe. To instantly deploy sentry guns where there weren't any and trap dozens "behind enemy lines" is a bit silly. I think they should be given free passage out. Having pirates in the universe makes you think twice about travelling to certain areas and makes you look at your tactical situation. Do I like pirates?? No way. I don't want to stare down the end of a cannon. As the CEO of a primarily manufacturing and sales based corp, my opinion is pirates are bad for my business. I'd much rather have them than not have them though because it keeps life interesting.

you say 0.4/0.5 systems are unsecure? wrong. they are not as secure as 1.0 systems. but they are not as unsecure as 0.0 systems. they are no "come here and you are dead" systems
if anything which can happen to you in a 0.0 system can also happen to you in a .4/.5 system then we could call 0.4/0.5 systems 0.0 systems... where's the difference?
you get it? there's more than secure and unsecure. more than "anything can happen" and "nothing will happen". and Playerkillers and pirates don't have to be there.
systems below 1.0 are more unsecure even without you. harder NPC pirates in belts, sometimes NPC pirates at gates waiting for u... That's what they are meant for.
gate camping pirates in cruisers or BS is what i expect in 0.0 systems. everything else is controlled and regulated space. guess why. go away.
ok, all those who do not think like you are losers? so i say all pirates are lamers. now what? not very constructive either, right?
what did you expect? should we pray for you to get out of the system without a scratch? shall we give you money for a new cruiser?
go to a 0.0 system and do some real pvp. no more easy killing.

whilst not being a pirate myself I can see Crepiscules point entirely, he was trying to make a valid point and everyone jumped on the "he's a pirate serves him ******* right bandwagon" which in a way yes it does, but he's entitled to be a pirate if he wants to be and I think lpayer pirates is a good thing, CPU pirates are **** and player pirates add some spice to the game. however; AS a pirate you have to deal with all the **** that comes with it. i know you've cost enough people their ship and resorted to podding them afterwards. (blowing peoples ships up and stealing their loot: fair enough but podding innocent travellers is a bit below the belt) And well... what comes around goes around, im sure you'll be able to get a replacement. _______________________________________________ Ahaahhhh you didn't count on my loyal army of Prostitutes did you? |

You don't like how grifers gatecamp, thats fine, I don't like it either. But truth-be-told, there is NO other avenue for pirate corps to operate besides gates, and now gates are gone.
CCP fixed things the wrong way, they should of randomized where you drop out of warp from a gate, or made the warp timer start from the time their screen loads, or 20 other easily implemented ideas, not what CCP decided to do.
