If a Frig with an afterburner cant be hit (and therefore can kill) both of them. Why would anyone waste money on the higher classes when they are only useful against other BSs etc. A frig however can take on anyone, and since Missles are now the only high dmg weapon (and missles are much smaller), can do equivilent dmg. Frigs can only be killed by other frigs but can kill all classes. Therefore Frigs are best?

Why think big guns only?? You "too good" to put on different weapons/ammunitons/lenses that do better dmg???
Guess you can't think of other weapon-setups but the big guns, use a small or check the stats on guns :P

Duh. All larger vessels should travel with frigate support. This is more realistic.

Although frigs might be good agains cruisers, I think they would be less effective against battleships. Battleships have more turret points allowing them to squeeze in a couple of fast tracking turrets. Also, the capacitor and shield recharge rate on a Battleship can allow it to take continuous punishment from a couple of frigates. --- ...I came to realize the obviousness of the truth. What is EVE? WHat about smartbombs or drones? You dont use this weapons? And of course small weapon can hit in short range, isnt it?

Need to vary the loadout on cruisers now.
Try 2 arty and 2 fast tracking autocannons?
Try misslies and smartbombs?
Heck just play around...I look forward to meeting the first frigate who thinks it can take my cruiser now this patch is in hehehehehe
Of course, if he has 3 or 4 mates then things will prolly go their way....as it should.
It's ummmm called tactics or something :P ============================================== "Trust no man who says to you that 'The ends justify the means' or who says that 'We will do whatever it takes...'. These men have no honour, and are fit only to be politicians."

Cruisers kick the snot out frigates - just use the right tactics and weapons.

Yup, time to, when operating solo, have a mixed turret loadout.
When travelling in groups, keep 3-5k btwn vessels, and fire on the frigates attacking your groupmates ship as opposed to your own, a.k.a. get them off my back.

First of yes they did make some drastic changes to turret tracking speeds. Does this mean I can't kill frigates with my cruiser and big weapons? Of course not.
In the tests I ran assuming I started my lock at 20km (locking at about 16k) I could destroy the incoming frigate (player not npc).
However if 3 frigates came in fast with good short range weapons, beware.
So what is the point of cruiser BS? They are a better/tougher/harder hitting ship with much more versatility in load out.

What I dont like is that there are no medium projectile weapons at all with good tracking rates, even the medium autocannons have rotten rates. And whilst I can fit small autocannons that have decent tracking rates theyre not that useful as the optimal range is only about 1 km (thats before being fitted with ammo) and a falloff range of 4 km, and in a cruiser it can be damn difficult to stay that close to a frigate :-(
So at the moment I am probably having more problems with high powered frigates than I am with cruisers (npc) simply because due to the drop in damage I cant kill them fast enough to prevent the frigates from getting in to a range where my cruiser has problems taking them down at a reasonable speed, so what usually ends up happening is I dont kill the entire group fast enough to prevent a respawn.
And afore anyone says, I am all in favour of combat taking longer and npc pirates being tougher to kill, but I would just like a medium projectile weapon that had a half-decent tracking speed and an optimal/falloff range somewhere between the autocannons and artillery :-)

Well if a frigate every decides to close the gap in on you why not just carry smartbombs? He closes in and bam start unloading on him with it. Or why not use a stasis web to slow down his advancement so you can run off and finally pop him off?

i loaded up some ion blasters today. their base tracking speed is .03, i get a bit more out of them with my skills, but not too much...like .0375 or something. anyway, i went out and let some pirate frigates orbit me and i had no problem blasting them.
.03 is pretty much the fastest tracking speed for a medium turret, and it does the job very nicely. if you don't want to equip one, then i suggest you invest in drones, smartbombs or missles.

I'm still wondering where Lallante got the information that a single Frigate with an afterburner can't be hit at all, at any range, ever... :/

Maybe if you guys spent more time developing PvP skills intead of gate camping you would know that a battleship with 4 smartbombs and 8 ogres is going to kill 10 or 20 frigates per minute without firing a shot even if alone (not sure it would live that long though). It's ok to ask the community for help though when you don't understand something like this. Convo me in game if you need any more help.

cruisers can fit the same weapons that have the same limitations and benefits as frigates. your arguments making cruisers and battleships useless are not logical.
