On the subject of colours, how about some more colours for the GUI. Mauve/lilac.. perhaps a pale blue... the colours at the moment are either earthy or ghastly. Does anyone actually use the red main colour without making their eyes bleed ???

Ooooh.. flashy icon idea is a really great one.. as I am in 2 minds.. the notification is nice in case you have no sound or missed the message, but your mail fills up with junk as it is... The Flashing icon is a nice solution I think..

So what stops a fleet of player pirate cruisers sitting out in .4 space and triggering the beacon to lure in people and shooting them up. ? It's far too open to abuse as a general use item.
