Actually, OP seems to be more grown up than most men i've met (Including you, perhaps?). Don't know if that is the analogy i'd use when talking about us <.> CCP (even though it fits), but that man sure knows how to appeal to a woman |

Comparing CCP/customers to husband/wife makes me think back to all the other pathetically emo "why don't CCP love us anymore" threads from a few months back. This is a business. People seem to forget that in their haste to be overly emotional.

Ah, it all makes sense now. I apologize. You are not immature.
You just don't know the meaning of the world "Analogy".
And i suspect that you will reply saying that you do, and that the analogy is "fail".
If you think that the OP suggested, or actually thinks that we are in a romantic relationship with CCP then you fail at text comprehension and tongue-in-cheek humour. |

Quite shocking that someone well into his 20s doesn't seem to comprehend that its just an analogy. All hes doing is taking another scenario and relating it Eve, I don't think he actually thinks CCP is his husband(maybe though).

Feel free to continue with the ad homimen attacks, they're awesome.
I get the analogy but just saying "it's an analogy" doesn't legitmize it. I remember reading "an analogy" on the SWG forums years ago likening paying for that to 'date rape' - that was as off-base as this thread is.
"Forgiveness is an Act. It is NOT an EMOTION. You might feel the pain of what CCP did to you to the day you die. It has NOTHING to do with forgiveness Forgiveness is NOT an Erasure of Your MEMORY. You might remember what CCP did to you, to the day you die."
This TOTALLY sums up the 'relationship' between the consumer and the corporate entity providing a service. If you feel any kind of "pain" - real or by way of analogy - about what CCP has done to you, you ought to re-think how you view this "relationship" as you're reading too much into it.

He's referring to the original video. Very much worth watching :)
The part in the video he's referring to is specifically where the marriage counsellor was suggesting to women that they should believe their husband's crazy plans, not immediately tell him how stupid they are. Believe the plans, then start asking sensible questions about how it's going to work. All a girl has to do is tell a guy he's done something right, or that she likes something he's done, and he'll get all ego-stroked, at which point the presenter did the puffed-up-peacock act that Renan was mimicking there :) |

Hehe yeah its damn right hilarious.. wish i could link it.. but don't want another locked thread. Specially one this amusing.
Ah what the hell.. type "Laugh your way to a better marriage" in youtube, watch the vids then come back sans religious stuff. Its actually a non-religious, weekend long, 4 hour seminar which just got a little cheesy at the last part. Should help so many people i don't mind if they lock another thread (please don't!! i wont let people talk about sensitive stuff like in the last one.. they only did because i was sleepiiing!!) Ah, I think the whole analogy is far too standard western world and Cinderalla dreaming....
Let's think Sheherazade... 1000 and 1 night... Or, nah, I don't want to write forever. You can read Arabian Nights all by yourselves.
CCP never had just one wife in EVE. They had four... at the very least...
They have some wifes in a place called "00"... In some places of our world that demarks the toilet, which for some viewers might be a fitting comparison. It is no big surprise then that the wifes behind that door clamour and cry very loudly for things like... I don't know. But it must be very important that more join them there and bring.. paper? This is a whole harem in fact. And as harems go, they want attention, before they bore themselves to death ignoring each other.
Now there are the other wifes. They life in a place called Wormholes. This might sound semi-erotic to some. It is definitely not! They are fewer by far! And while CCP - as a good husband-to-the-many - tries to appease them, CCP cannot just shove the 00 ladies of his lap.
But... the wormhole wifes are the least of CCPs troubles! There are the ladies he married in a place called High Sec! And they don't want to join the big harem with all the girly talk, mostly. They despise the idea of first ladies and prom queens and just want to have a good time at their own leisure. Perhaps they have been there before or perhaps they just don't care.
But there are quite a lot of them! And they are not as loud as the harem, perhaps they still believe they have a standard monogamic style marriage.
Their nearest neighbors are the divorced wifes. They life a low life style in a place called low-sec and are quite disillusioned, as they are neither part of the harem nor of the greater High Sec crowd. I can tell you, they would shoot you on sight without any reason! What reason for life do they have? All their dreams were shattered a long time ago and so they resort to senseless violence as no constructive means were ever given to them!
((Just expanding the analogy, so please take it with a grain of salt and now... flame if you want to! It is late here, I'll be defenseless.)) |

Guess thats another way of putting it But its more fitting the other way around.
You see, like i said above, this community is like a woman in the sense that we get happy for basically nothing.. as long as CCP is communicating.
CCP you get points for writing devblogs. HUGE points.... So you're earning a lot of points for basically DOING NOTHING!! And the sooner the devblog goes live, the more points you earn.
Why? Because each time one of your players talk to another MMO's player of your plans... DING!! You get a point. (And the other MMO, the poor sob.. loses one hehe).
But CCP.. for crying out loud... Deliver what you Promise! Sometimes the only difference between a budding genius and a blooming idiot is where they chose to take a stand. |

CCP never had just one wife in EVE. They had four... at the very least...
The process of maintaining relationships with a number of spouses is only slightly different to the process of maintaining a relationship with one. The same personal relationship needs to be maintained, otherwise that spouse will become unhappy. There are other considerations with multiple spouses, such as dividing attention fairly (not necessarily equally, some people just need more attention, other people don't like too much attention, but then expect to have attention when they demand it).
The basics of interpersonal communication are still the same: the communication needs to happen at all, then you can start paying attention to the details.
