Imho EW will get that role that everybody fits 2 multies and just hopes for some luck to pwn the others ass, and that is kinda sad, very said tbh or maybe even disgusting for combat.
I am trying to understand the logic of that. So, your point is that chance based system is a bad idea. But what if said megathron had backup arrays that countered your ECM? Wouldn't you be just as dead because now you would have had NO chance since now it is either 100% or nothing?
I'm not completely opposed EW with a chance factor involved even as an EW pilot that specializes in Caldari ships now. I've never liked the 100% or nothing factor. If you prepare for for it to garantee yourself to counter it, a gankgeddon comes by and fries you because you loaded yourself with backups and no defense or even offense. If you don't and you aren't using a ship that has loads of FoF and/or drones and he has the first lock, you are scrambled and lumbering around like a toothless beached whale with no way to fight back. And I'll try not to shed any tears over pirates who now have to work harder for their 'ransom'. I always laugh in their face anyway and let them try to destroy my ship. They have less to gain if they kill me than I stand to lose if I lost.
I can't say I like the whole webifier portion. The scrambling part I can handle. TomB gave some good numbers as samples. I'm not sure how much that part is going to matter since it seems every good pilot uses instas anyway but we will see. But the webifier portion throws a wierd cog into the state of interceptors right now. They are damn hard to catch and hit as it is and any interceptor pilot with any sense can easily decide he doesn't want to be caught. Now they are making that harder with those web changes? I spent an hour fruitlessly trying to catch an interceptor until I gave up, switched into my Eagle sniper and shot it down that way.
Changes like these do have to be weighed against the current environment though too which seems to lean towards getting the lock fast and producing as much damage as possible in the shortest time before your opponent can defend himself, if he is capable of that. If it is going to take too much time to get that lock, it frankly won't matter if you can target jam him or not. You would be so far gone that the drones already launched (and FoF missiles if any) are capable of finishing you off. I think that is something that should be considered while things are moving forward with these changes. EW ships tend to not have many defenses that can manage this well and these changes won't help Caldari ships much in that regard as you want to try to use a lo slot or two for that, instead of equipping something to counter other EW ships.
