Rather that whine about your T3 fleet not being able to gank someone in their PVE carrier, i would rather CCP add more features that make people want/need to fight aggressors.
The introduction of POCO's was a potentially good way to force the wormhole owner to fight you but in reality, why would anyone field a fleet to defend something that cost 100 million isk?
I like the idea of being able to upgrade a wormhole system (e.g. more sites, better PI and the ability to create a wormhole) and if CCP were to introduce this mechanic, it could be done similar to the POCO system where you anchor this new system upgrade device to a celestial (e.g. the sun). Just like to POCO's anyone could come along and attack this structure but the difference would be that this structure costs billions to construct.
Either way, something needs to be added to wormholes as, i feel, it's starting to get stale. They see me trolling, they hating... |

Noisrevbus wrote:When it comes to player mentality you'll see that it doesn't differ that much no matter where you go. If you decide to experience the outside world you'll see the same patterns repeat and it has very little to do with the price of ships or whatever you want to attribute (we have gangs, or camps, of the new improved tech one frigates now - who run at first sight of something uncertain or challenging).
When it comes to Wormholes i think the largest issue is that WH in their initial implementation was a bit of a hackjob. The ideal behind the mechanics is fair but the devil is in the details. It created a scenario where not only mass was limited as a general principle but where the entire subgame was separated from the casual interaction of other spaces and created just that, a subgame. The mechanics of the mass limitations do not only hinder more sizable groups to move vast resources through holes, but also equally sized groups or smaller groups which means the space is not visited by outsiders as frequently as it should be.
Tactics even emerged based on keeping any interaction out (i think RnK's third video installment provide quite a good picture of what i mean). The tedium, requirements and defensive tactics keep everyone out so WH have a certain knack for choking life out of itself. We could argue wether if it's too much to ask to bring a decent prober with any gang you send out, but at the end of the day it's yet another detail out of many that simply stifle interaction.
The shame is that our developers seem content with WH as the prototype for a "game within the game", and have continued in that direction while letting the core mechanics of the WH environment fester. I always belived WH was a temporary solution and prototype for scale-interaction mechanics intended for Dominion. Though we all know that story.
what the hell are you on about? you just mention every feature that makes us want to live in wh space and then tell us its bad and wrong........for your sake i do hope you dont live in wh space :S |

Unfortunately i've found once people have ID'd your corp tag and are smart enough to look your killboard (or know who you are from your reputation) they are generally less inclined to fight.
People (in WH space or not) always want fights that they think they can win generally... May you be one with Bob |

Get over it!
Most the big alliances are really only half the size of what is says they are. But that is still bigger than most of the corps that can sustain a higher class wromhole. People are banding together because of the threat of being invaded.
Why does everyone do that? Because there a certain alliances that all they do is kill towers. The most boring thing there is in WH space. They spend countless hours preparing for these stupid ops and then they think they are great because they could kill a tower. How often do these operations actually turn into PVP? 1 out 20 if your lucky.
You also have the alliances that plan invasion ops not with the intent to evict but with visions of grandeur that this will be the epic battle they have all been working towards. This is the one! Then once they get in they discover in very short order that this alliance has called that alliance and that alliance has called this alliance and it becomes the very same thing that everyone has been complaining about, a standoff!
So you end up with Norcorp calls AHRM. Talocan calls Transmission lost, EE calls a couple as well. Just take a look around you, everyone is so afraid of the big blob they have to make their own. That is just survival and you are not going to be able to change that. It is a fact of life in WH space now, So get over it!
You want to make an impact on the Game? Then everyone band together and use your knowledge of WH's and invade 00. Take over some systems, get a foothold and then put your foot were the sun don't shine!
Small PVP ops in higher class WH's no longer exists. The standoffs are the mainstay and only 1 out 20 invasions will escalate into anything epic! ROVER (REDRUM)

I've said this before (during Boo Steps terrible endorsement of nerfing lower class wormholes into the ground) and I'll say it again: Give us a reason to actually fight over specific wormholes other than just grudges against X because they said Y about your mom. More variation in connection types, rebalance the system effects so there aren't one or two that are universally considered useless, etc. |

I really don't think anyone actually wants to blob, but most people prefer winning enough that they'll do it. If we could break up the big alliances and especially the coalitions, I think people would have a lot more fun. Unfortunately there's little motivation to do that. Why start a new corp or alliance when you can just join one.
Sandslinger made a good point that variety is good but if certain wormholes are distinctly better it will probably worsen the consolidation problem. Lack of population isn't the problem because I'd bet we have more people playing in wormholes than ever before. The problem is that people keep merging and just about everyone who posted in this thread has participated in that. We're all crapping in our own sandbox. |

All this talk about no fights. Fights in w-space are out there, it just depends on what you define a "fight" as. I have fun shadowing an Orca to Jita then back while critting its home Wh, then collapsing behind it with a Widow and stealing the ship and cargo when the pilot rage ejects. Lol. Ambushes can be extremely fun even when they take an hour to set up. 20 vs 20 fight is fun as well, but certainly more rare. Sometimes it is ganking a couple Drake or Tengu in a site with 3 or 4 cloaky T3. K-space wh diving can be tedious, but it can also be exciting. But, to each their own...
Fun is what you make it. There is so much variety out there and so many people that don't take basic precautions when in w-space. Some people fight, some people don't, and that is just human nature. But, as always, certain folks want every fight to be easy and epic, and that isn't what w-space is about IMHO. Please don't fix what isn't broken, more than enough of that going on already. The enemy of my enemy is... -ájust another guy that needs killin' |

I'm not so sure on this, from a pure Aharm pov i'd guess there are 2 types of invasions the impromtu ones where we'll just go hey invade small farming corps that tbh we dont expect any fight from (these typically take no planning)
Then the much bigger invasions which have took time and effort (normally a week to 2 weeks prep) of these ones i'd say a fair few have ended or had epic fights in them, probably half.
guess maybe a semi 3rd type where we'll just reinforce a weakly defended tower in the course of regular chain collasping in the hope we might cycle back in nearer the reinforce timer which i guess inst a strict invasion persay (you'd be surprised just how often thats happened)
as most have said wh space is changing 18 months ago wh space was mainly corp level, its then grown to alliances and now on the the coalition stage, A quick look at eveskunk and you can see just how much of wh space is perma blue to each other, even going as far as to start blue'ing null sec allainces (and having themselves set blue in return). and yep it leads to others then having to do a similar.
as to orginal topic i think the npc aggro will help and hopefully they will sort the leashing out soon enough that thats not to much a issue, although even this can be easily solved if you put some effort in. |

Over a year ago I was laying the groundwork for 3 corporations in an alliance. It was going to be a hybrid of RP, PvP, and W-Piracy with incursions into K-Space. I called it the Word of Chaos Undivided and the three corps were Word Bearers of Chaos, Night Lords of Chaos, and Iron Warriors of Chaos. The three Chaos Chapters would be permawardecced between themselves and only grouping together to fight more important enemies... like N-Spacers.
I believe that the concept is solid and could have forever changed how we approached W-Space... or the Maelstrom as Warhammer calls it.
Maybe someone else can make it work?
Also, I think moon mining needs to come to W-Space. It boggles my mind when arbitrary validation is used to limit players for no good reason. The way W-Space works is all the deterrent that is needed. Keeps groups from claiming too much territory. |

There'd be a lot o' tears if wormholes got moon mining too. Personally I think that entire mechanic needs to be scrapped and replaced with something else that moves/depletes a la sites/pi. Something more dynamic, and something that could perhaps be scaled in a way that it wouldn't just be "TURN OFF IN TYPES OF SPACE X, Y, TURN ON IN Z" |

Given the nature of this thread, and the general nature of WH income options, I don't believe WH's need any additional Carebear/PVE/isk making options.

I find it a funny thing that EE gets acused of blobing especially by talocan :D
this is probably mostly due to a fight with 4U holdings maybe 5-6 weeks ago. EE had triage archon (in a pulsar) +armor T3's the usual exciting and standard fleet comp that has been in use for 2 years. Talocan land with chimera and pheonix so we call for backup since we cant out dps the chimera's reps on anything but some tier 3 BC's. Obviously anyone not afk hears about 2 tackled caps + support fleet tackled in the static gets in and joins in, we cant say to people your not allowed to come because the numbers are already even, everyone wants to ***** on a mail ofc.
Fozzie has also talked about nerfing T3's which i look forward too as it might diversify wormhole fleets. I origionally made this thread as an angry rant after yet another time of finding caps escalating who are impossible to kill due to log off mechanics and grid stretching exploits/techniques.
The batphone thing is getting out of hand but everyone is so starved for PvP that if they hear about a multi-bilion isk fleet hanging around someware ofc everyone wants a piece of the action.
I still think the main problem is wormholes are far too empty, there is no reason to fight for resources, tax, special materials only found in certain holes etc.
People only want to fight if they think they can win and this aplies to myself most of the time, ofc there are times when you get so desperate you will fight with the odds against you or just take what you can get.
More 'roaming wormholes' might help this, random wormholes spawning between wormholes (not WH to k-space) that create muliple chains rather than a few wh's then k-space then collapse all over the game.
Most of us a rich enough and bored enough by now that we must be able to come up with some way to enjoy more PvP without just giving up on wormholes and roaming / invading nullsec |

Here is the devblog on the new crimewatch:
http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=73443
Here is a table of various timers and effects:
http://cdn1.eveonline.com/www/newssystem/media/63443/1/logo2_flags2consequences.png
A 15 minute timer will be given to a player when they shoot or are shot at by NPC's, unlike PVP aggression this timer cannot be extended.
If I'm reading the comments thread correctly the target will have 15 minutes before he disappears, if you did not shoot him before he logged he will disappear after 15 minutes. |
