Ok, here is the deal.
I see the new timer on being able to Jetison a can. The thing is I can't mine now.
I fill up with ore and jetison can for indie to pick up. It then says I have to wait 5 minutes more to jetison a new can. I keep filling a can till that 5 minutes is passed and keep putting ore in same can for 15 minutes before indie picks it up. I go to jetison another can and it tells me I have to wait 5 minutes still. I sit full of ore 5 minutes and go to jetison it. I get message it still has 9 seconds left so I wait. I go to jetison again and the timer has reset and wait 5 more minutes. The timer just keeps resetting. I just sat there full of ore for 20 minutes and UNABLE to jetison a can.

This is probably due to the fact that some Rats like to lag gates with containers in order to gain an unfair advantage over their prey. To avoid that problem just use one container and seperate 1 ore unit from the rest so that the container does not explode when your Indy picks up the remaining ore

Just keep one can, and keep dragging the ore into that one can...

If you read more than the subject before you actually reply you will see that the timer keeps resetting and won't let me jetison a new can no matter how long I wait. You can't use a can forever because they blow up after a while.

"Just keep one can, and keep dragging the ore into that one can..."
That is really the best way to mine without confusing everyone else in your corp, and creating extra work for the indy drivers. ------------------

Unfortunately this won't fix the real problem of annoying gate pirates that keep respawning, getting killed, and causing lots of cargo containers around gates that are being camped.
The problem with stuffing everything in one 'can' is that if two people are trying to manipulate the contents at the same time, the container gets bugged and nobody can get to it. This may have been fixed (haven't played this patch yet), but that's why we never did it this way before. Also, when the indy or collector does pick up your cargo, you will need to jettison to create a new cargo container, so it's not like you can just keep the same one forever.

Yes, if anyone but the owner of the can opens it they will see the contents as is regardless of the little refresh thing or closing/opening again. This won't clear until that person zones.
5 minutes is a bit of a long time but I could live with that if they would just fix the contents refreshing!

God damnit, people. How 'bout you actually read the body of Trom's post first and then click Reply second?
Jettison is currently so bugged that the game is largely unplayable. That it could be so bugged in a patch with specific jettison-related changes is a complete mystery given the level of testing which should have taken place in that area. How did this patch escape QA?

Doesn't this change in the ability to jettison seem to indicate they thought the cargo container-lag "trick" WAS an exploit?

Erm I'm not entirely sure what the problem is.
All seems fine to me. Little bit of management required but nothing major. I'm currently mining into a can ( well my 3rd ) quite happily.
Yes I get the timer when I try to jettison but that's not a problem. Just keep filling old container until the timer's gone.

nono really this is the first time I have to say that a change is complete bs. I¦ve been sitting here for nearly 30 minutes now trying to jettison something the timer just keeps resetting over and over. I understand they need to do something about the container lag exploit or whatever one might call it but this is nothing but a freakin pain.
CCP if this is really oyur plan then for the love of god FIX THE CARGOCONTAINERS not updating content correctly and IMPLEMENT some kind of big cargocan for indies to carry and unload in roidbelts so the miners can load the ore into them or somthing. Whatever you do, notice that THIS STUPID TIMER os not a solution, it¦s a pain.
