Edited by: TheSysX on 21/03/2005 13:05:45 There is a new type of scam around.
Players say they are quitting and giving away there billions while playing little isk games with people.
Wolfgang H played some games for ISK, answer the question right, send some ISK, and you'll get send more back. Wolfgang was honest and everyone got his ISK and extra millions.
However this got some bad people to ideas, the next day, a guy named Samiell III did the same, but at the end he kept all ISK that was send to him. I lost 311 mill, some other guy 340, etc, etc.
I will stop playing EVE, i can by no means cope with this loss, it was my 4 months savings.
So PPL, PLZ BE WARNED FOR THIS TYPE OF SCAM
*Removed last line, due to scam accusations :S

Edited by: KIAHicks on 20/03/2005 19:39:48 If you can't cope with the loss maybe you shouldn't have risked losing it in a game? Even if the game turned out to be a scam, I'm sure in the real game there would have been many legitimate losers as well.
If something is too good to be true, thats because it is. Why if someone is giving away isk would they be asking for isk to be sent to them first?
That said, at least your willing to warn others :) But then by asking for help I assume you mean isk, which could in and of itself be a scam to get money for yourself off the more generous and trusting forum peeps. So I would recommend nobody sends you isk.
Nice try though

Wolfgang did it the day before, a nice way to give your isk away and have some fun before quitting and make some ppl happy. It's just that scammers have to ruin it all again

How do we know this isn't a scam to get money from soft-hearted individuals. Everyone should know better than to give a lot of money for anything.

I'm curious now...what kind of scam would be enticing enough to get you to give 300mil isk with no questions?
What exactly did this entail to be so enticing? lol There's always an easier way. |

Oh you poor sucker..
If you are stupid enough to transfer 300M isk into some guys account you have never met, then you deserve to lose it.

Well I played the game, he starts off giving small amouts like 30k 50k 100k. You do get the isk promised so you trust the guy. Not sure how exacly they lost so much isk,I had to go to church ^_^, but I heard at one point he said he will pay back 1.60x whatever you send him(he claimed to have some 2.5bil), so I guess people gave him all they had to get rich and he just kept it.

I am an nigerian govenment official, recently our countries leader passed away.......
Dude, while i feel bad you lost 300mil, but its ONLY pretend money. Now it may have taken you 4 months to amass, it, but really you should of thought about that before sending it to the guy.
Now if you are thinking about leaving, think about this. That means you wasted 4 months subscription of REAL money. Track the guy down kill his alt, and make sure u keep telling people about it, because someone will know who his main char is, and once you have that your golden.

lesson learned
also am pretty annoyed from some of the ppl posting here ever coined the phase "dont kick a man when he's down?"
Be nice to see ppl show respect and simply say unlucky mate and move on.
o another phase u might remember "if you havent got nothing nice to say, dont say nothing at all."
i doubt most of u speak this way to ppl irl - dont be cowards hiding behind ur pc - were all people still pls show some restraint.
theres my 30seconds...

I watched this happening in sobaseki local earlier, i checked the guys bio and thought 'why would a guy thats only been playing 2 months have that much isk' his 'game' must be dodgy. I then watched people readily pay him 60+ mill, and I thought it musy be a scam, then I had to go to work. Guess it all went bad in the end then.
Kinda sucks for the peeps taken in by it, but if something seems to good to be true, it probably is.
