Just a few comments/thoughts on the matter :
* Some ppl seem to think that the ones killing more ppl should own a place. While that may somewhat reflect how the war seems to be going, it still doesn't mean that they own the place. A group of 5 ppl can kill a lot more than they lose, and still not have control of the area.
* As some have pointed out, it worked fine until "a certain entity" didn't like that their area was marked as disputed. Tbh, I don't think it was the disputed thingy that really caused that reaction, but the "they have lost control so I'm marking it as disputed" comment. A better way of saying it would have been "the area has been under heavy attack for quite some time now, so I'm marking it as disputed for now". There is a lot of pride in people, so the way you say things is important.
* With more maps, I think we will only get more threads about "that map is wrong in that area, that map is wrong there, blah blah bla" and so on. I doubt that it'd actually solve anything tbh, and it'd make it more difficult for the mapmakers to keep their maps updated in the areas they aren't bery familiar with.
* Having some select few from different alliances tell the mapmaker what's going on will probably not work. I base this on the amount of ppl contributing in making comments about the Fade area when I was there - the area was under heavy attack by ASS, Nemesis and DIE for quite some time before anyone bothered telling the mapmaker that it should probably be marked as a warzone, and the fact that Keiretsu/Foundation have still not gone public with whatever deal they made very recently (some kind of mutual defence pact I think). In all 0.0 areas I've been involved in, only a small part of the events around there actually reached the forums, and even fewer reached the forums when they actually happened - and in those few cases the information was usually distorted.
* The best way is probably to make it worth the effort of actually claiming a 0.0 area with ingame methods, that should at least remove the problem of claimed/unclaimed in the non faction areas of 0.0. Some ways to make it worth it could be : - Ability to add sentries at some select places in the systems, that would attack non alliance members if the non alliance members fired on an alliance member. The amount of sentries shouldn't be too many and not be made stronger than the current 0.4 sentries, and they should be destructable. - More functions to POS:es. I don't really know what they can/can't do, but ppl seem to lack a lot of stuff that can be done in a regular station - a POS seems to be more of a pure mining outpost than something that can actually be considered a base of operations for both miners and PVP:ers.
