The infantry is coming. We all know that when Dust 514 is released, the grunts will have some impact on how we spacelords conduct our business. But how will they go about communicating with us? CCP karkur has written a dev blog detailing exactly that; how dusties and capsies will be besties in the same chat rooms.
Read it all here.
As always we want to hear your constructive thoughts and comments in this thread, so post away. CCP Gargant | Community Representative |

War Kitten wrote:Looks good, less clutter is always nice.
One question: If I turn off dust bunnies chat in local, will the channel counter still show how many there are in system?
Yes, you always see the number of 'Bunnies' even though you hide them from the Member list and/or take their coloring from the chat messages.
You can however not hide the chat messages themselves from the chat channel. CCP Arrow-á-á|-á Senior Game Designer-á|-á @CCP_Arrow |

Do you mean the counter? Beacuse that was like that before. Yes, and still seems like a defect :P A counter that basically says 0 when there are 2 people, then magically jumps to 3 when someone else arrives isn't much of a counter. Small issue, but one i was hoping to have fixed. The counters shouldn't say 0, they just shouldn't be there. This is so you won't have counters in private conversations CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Daedalus II wrote:Why is the settings icon a sprocket when for example the drone settings icon is three horizontal lines? Shouldn't it also be a sprocket?
The Cogwheel (Sprocket) is used for Settings that are individual to each Chat channel, but the three horizontal lines icon represents Global Settings for a window. So in the case of the Drone Window, it is a Global Setting that affects all of the Drone UI.
The reason we don't display this Global Settings icon for Chat is to safe space in each stacked Chat window to show more of the chat channel's name CCP Arrow-á-á|-á Senior Game Designer-á|-á @CCP_Arrow |

Chribba wrote:So you say the channel switches automagically to delayed when hitting 50 people if you have it set to immediate, instead of like before blocking people?
Will it revert back to immediate once going below?
Currently I keep my channel in delayed since we pass 50 from time to time, so now I can go back to immediate (which i would like so I know who's there) and it will switch on/off for me?
/c well, this is (maybe) awkward ... we are not changing how that works. It was my understanding that it would switch... let me look into that CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Although this is part of the Eve-Dust intergration its nice you thought of eve players and updated our channels a bit, nice to see we can highlight our own text :)
Is there any plans to remove local being on immediate mode in nullsec or possibly allow us to 'disable local broadcasting' or something so we dont show up in local if we dont want too? Creating a "local solarsystem intelligence tool", so Local Chat can become simply that (a local chat channel), is on the roadmap but hasn't been scheduled yet. Erlendur S. Rommiee wrote:If the bunnies are hidden from the member list, then the counter should also be changed. It should only display the number of pilots/bunnies that you have chosen in the settings. Or at least make that another option.
There is no reason to do otherwise. If you don't want the bunnies in the member list, why the hell would you need to know how many are in system ?
Oh yeah, and we need to be able to filter out their messages also. Local spam from a bunch of 14 year olds and all that. CCP karkur...... Don't you think that this makes sense ? Can you please explain the logic behind doing it the way you have ? It does make sense to me that you see how many of them are there, even though you choose not to display them.

Freezehunter wrote:Since we have this cool new highlighting system in place, is it possible to highlight messages in the various chats by their standings?
Grey for neutrals, Orange and Red for enemies, Blue, Green and Purple for fleet mates and another color for ourselves.
Would be cool to know on the spot if the guy I am calling a ****** in Jita Local was not in fact a blue. XD
Also, I see that we have new counters that show how many capsuleers and how many bunnies there are, is it possible to get a "red/wartarget" in system alert counter for local chat member list? I actually want to add the little standings icon to the chat messages... I just need to get someone to agree with me and find time to do it CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Harlequin D'Earth wrote:Quote:Since we were fiddling with message colors anyway we decided we might as well add something that you, our EVE peeps, have asked for: enabling you to highlight your own messages, which you do by toggling "Highlight My Messages" on. Seem a bit of a waste of highlighting tbh... I already know what I wrote and if I need to get back to it for a re-send ctrl+arrow works fine. Much more useful would be highlighting chat when someone speaks to me, as laid out in this ideas thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=97035 It would be cool to do some sort of highlighting if your name appears, but that was just out of scope for what we were doing with these chat changes.
I like the message highlighting to see what has been going on in the channel since I last spoke (I always do that in the help channel, look for my nice blue text and read from there). CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

Sorry if you feel insulted man, that was posted in a super-cheeky way, I assumed people would reply more like this: Edit; especially since I posted it so fast after my previous posts! It would've been crazy if you actually managed to respond that fast, then I'd be mighty impressed, haha.
I wasn't insulted at all, my happy writing and sad writing are obviously too similar I was just letting you know I have to get back to you on this specific subject, but that I will still follow up on it.
