Doubt new players even come to the forums, so they'll always have to learn the "EvE is full of dicks" lesson the hard way.
You should just travel back to the region in a stealth ship at a later date, and slap everything on the market remotely. Trusting someone to move it for you is just inviting even more doom! |

ha... had to look you guys up. Something Awful. I think I remember that being funny. It's been like a decade since I was in college though, so who knows. Memory gets fuzzy with old age.
Goonwaffe! So edgy. Sounds like I'd get the chance to fly with a bunch of self-righteous aging dorks who no doubt grief in hilarious and interesting way XDDDddd.
No thanks.
I'll go back to missioning in high sec until I get bored and quit.

This is a known scam that usually works well on players trying to get in (spai) and showing off. Noobs seem to get free ships/skill books and even isk from some players (told by some newbie friend over there)
Anyway, when you get to some alliance in null and you're willing to move all your stuff over there before you even know how things will evolve you're dumb and deserve to loose it. Never do this by any circumstance and keep your stuff at least in closest NPC station just in case. Pick something you can easily afford to loose and restart EVERYTHING from the scratch, eventually buy a couple fleet doctrine ships "in situ" you don't risk that much. Learn to know people, respect their habits and earn their respect, then move yer crap.

Actually as an official alliance diplomat (look at our alliance description) I am not permitted to scam :( If you really want your stuff out, create a courier contract to parses, or contact me in game. And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell. Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell. |

If you don't trust them, you can put a collateral on the contract. Assuming you're not emotionally attached to the items, nothing to lose that way. |

Actually, with a properly set up courier contract (collateral > value of your stuff), you can't really lose. Just don't set it up wrong, or you can lose a lot. I once made about 1 bil ISK worth of stuff from some clueless goon who set up a contract wrong.
Looks like you had a bad experience with a "newbie friendly" corp. Shake it off, try a different one. Keep in mind:
- "Contract us your stuff to move it for you" -- likely a scam (though I do the same for my corp members, and I'm not scamming).
- "Recruitment fee/deposit/payment" -- scam.
- Check their killboard. Do they kill their own members?
- Are they "newbie friendly" and deep in 0.0? Probably not very newbie friendly, then. (There are exceptions, but they're not common)
- Look up info on them, and if they can be trusted.
- You cannot join GoonWaffe without being a member of the Something Awful forums. If anyone tells you otherwise, suspect lie/scam.
- You cannot join Dreddit without being a member of Reddit (for a long time, and are an active member). If anyone tells you otherwise, suspect lie/scam.
- Corp titles mean absolutely nothing other than that a director is in on the joke. I have a "Sovereignty Manager" title. My alliance has no sov, nor any intention to own sov.
- Thicker skin, HTFU, trust no-one, etc.

This person is actually trying to be nice I think. Not everyone in EVE is a ****, they just are the loudest and most noticeable. If they are offering to move your stuff via a collateralized courier contract its not a scam. If they steal your stuff you get paid what it's worth, just make sure you set the collateral for what it's worth. |
