Quit cry'n ...we attack people on random most of the time. Either mining ops we see on maps or tanking sentries because we are bored or waiting for CS round to start up again. It happens..you accept the risk of losing your indies, and battleships at gates or stations when you go into -4 and below space.

I've been flying protection once, while being attacked.
I'll suffice to say that the attacker in question wasn't prepared for resistance. We killed the scout and the actual strike force kept well away. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Perhaps 0.5 should be sacrosanct for this purpose, however..
Retaliation is retaliation correct? What difference does it make if it was in the last 15 minutes since you were fired upon or since your clone was activated?
1)Perhaps in <0.5 the rules for flagging of those who recieved another death certificate should be reevaluated. Or simply made more complex. Everyone loves confusing rules.
2)Perhaps in <0.5 the sec status of your foe should make a more noticeable difference as to whether you get flagged or no. In secure space, you can attack anyone below -5.1 or so. Faction standing above that at various intervals will earn you a visit by concord or the local faction navy. Either make the attacked player's sec status the multiplier of the sec hit, or adopt the stepped rules for faction entanglement for flagging and sec hits. Ex. If a player is below -1.0 in 0.4 space, no sec hit. -0.5 in 0.3, no sec hit. 0.0 standing in 0.2 space, no sec hit. 0.5 standing in 0.1 space, no sec hit.
This could be either faction or security standing technically.

Three hours ctag time would be a joke, anyone who even thinks its a good idea is dumb. Who the hell has enouph time in their life to sit around for three hours at a safespot waiting for timers to go away.
1/4 an hour is plenty of time.
Mine with warpstabs and stay aligned to warp, doesnt get much easier then that. |

My intent was not to say nerf pirating more...but instead give me a way to track the offenders into "secure" space where they can travel without punishment after the 15 minutes has lapsed. Personally I like the risk and challenge that other people bring to the game, I just wish it did'nt take a declaration of war involving my whole corp in a matter between myself and the pirate(s) that attacked me. So I think a system like I first mentioned, where at my own expense I could hunt down the offender within a limited timeframe would really add a nice touch from a roleplaying and vengful angle.

Well, what would be needed to implement any sort of retribution system would have to be different from criminal flagging. It would have to be vendetta flagging and wouldn't involve sentries in 0.4 on down. Security standing would not be affected from there on out.
Plus, if both parties remain in the 24 hour or so loop, the Vendetta can be carried on and on without any further standing loss for either party so long as one continues to attack the other each round, thereby resetting the timer.
Personally though, I still don't like the idea of an empirical or numerological security standing system. I operate at a more black and white level without so many shades of grey.

Originally by: Reash Simply extending the tagging period to say 3 hours or something after you attack a player would be a good way to fix this as currently all i see pirates in empire doing it attacking miner, sitting at safe spot for 15 mins...flying to a gate or station and have them protect the pirate.
Of course to balance this the sentries shouldnt attack the pirate after 15 mins as they dont now as that would just mean a longer, boring wait at a safe spot.
If the flagging timer was extended to 3 hours its less likely that the pirate would just sit around and wait for 3 hours and do nothing, people might actually have a chance to fight them.
Now i dont claim this idea to be original, but i think its the best solution that shoud be implemented.
when you reach the lower regions of sec rating the sentries dont defend you, so there 3 hour flagging would mean that the said nasty pirate wouldnt be able to repair, or change set ups or ships to face your 'attacking challenge' if you wanna fight pirates sit in a belt and wait for them to arrive, use your head and work out a plan dont sit there in 10 BS smack talking. by adding stupid rules like that all you will do is reduce the number of pirates, without pirates then dangerous space wouldnt be dangerous, and whats the fun in that? why make it harder than it already is to have a perfectly legitimate line of employment in pirating, the game is designed to have pirates, you love to hate them, we love kill you, its a beautiful, harmonious cycle. can you imagine how boring it would be with no pirates? how mind numbingly boring.... if you wanna fight m8 then get out your barge and fight. there is always a solution.
"Retarded Trophy Hunter With a Blackend Soul" Thank you for that...... |
