Originally by: Elexoria I'm sorry, but on a holiday's Friday night, to have connectivity issues (wherever or whomever with the problem lies is irrelevant) for about 5 hours now is just terrible service for a game that I'm sure generates quite a profit for CCP. They should not have a server in Iceland. They should be located in Europe or North America or both. This is nonsense.
They are in London. But I digress...
What difference would it make if they were in Iceland? Do you think computers somehow work differently if they are located in an economic powerbloc? If so, you should quit it tonight and go to bed.

Originally by: Elexoria If you were computer savvy at all, you would have traced the route to find where the connection is lost... and low and behold it's in Iceland. So maybe your dreadfully distasteful sarcasm is correct!!
Sigh... for like the two hundredth time in this thread: The servers are not in Iceland! Just because the DNS entry has 'iceland' in its name does not mean that is where the server is located. It's simply set up like that so that CCP/Icelanders don't have to pay extra to access outside Iceland... some sort of bandwidth tax I believe.
Shut up now and stop trying to spout off, you don't know what your talking about. You're just embarassing yourself.

can;t wait anymore...
if the proxy not connected shows up again i am coming to england, fininding the CCP headquarters or their server place and i am gonna **** all over the servers. that way they have to buy new ones. they got money.
You'd have a job mate, they located in London docklands Telehouse building I think. Which is supposedly nuclear bomb proof.
Which is a relief really. At least we know that if there is a nuclear war, we'll all still be able to play EVE. Unless it's a bank holiday weekend of course

Originally by: yanshi someone must be out of their mind to read all that text in the EULA. too much reading. u go nuts. lol.
That's the general idea - that's why they're written that way. Your first, automatic reaction is just to say "Ah, !^%& it" and scroll to the end and accept / sign / whatever. Then, when something goes wrong, like it has done today, companies (like CCP) who use the EULA concept can just point at this pseudo-legalese document and say "We're not obliged to give you squat".
Just the way the world works unfortunately.

Yes, But only as long as you AGREE to the EULA. Thats why its called an End User License Agreement, not an End User License With No Right To Refuse or just simply an End User License.
Bit off-topic now I know, but I have come across retail Microsoft stuff which have a seal on the back of the CD saying "By opening this, you agree to the EULA". Which is only located in a text file on the same CD you're trying to get to!

Originally by: Agama Well. I got a 14 trial and got 5 other mates into this game. Now here we are at easter when everyone has some time off and for a second day the servers are constantly crashing. At this point I am really disappointed in the stability of this game. The servers are down for hours on end, the client crashes at random times.
Is this always the case for this game or what (I only have the last week to go by). The servers go down every night to make sure they run sweet yet they seem to be down a fair bit. If that is the case I don't think I will get a subscription and I can bet my other mates won't either. Its a shame really.
The game is really good except for stability issues. Don't think I will be parting with $20/month for downed servers all the time.
It's pretty unusual. This is the worst it's been since the Castor release in late 2003.
Some official info and recognition of that fact (not ISD) would be good. Where's Kieron when you need him? Isn't he supposed to be the customer service manager? A lot of customers are needing serviced with some concrete info right now.

Originally by: Cantari Also dont forget we have a patch coming up soon ish and that could possible also effect the servers.
LOL... please explain how a patch that isn't due to be released for over a week can somehow affect the live servers? Telepathic bad code vibes, I tell ya...

Keiron (the community service manager) isn't a dev, isn't in a position to fix bugs or diagnose servers, but it is his job to calm the huddled masses that rise up every now and again in situations like this.
So yes, keep the techies working away fixing the problem, and get Keiron's ass on here telling us exactly what they're doing and when the expect the problem to be resolved.
Guess he picked the wrong weekend to have a few days off

What, may I ask, is the reason that whenever something goes wrong in Eve lately, we are told to post on this thread?
Thank you in advance.
It's easier to ignore one thread than dozens of them
I'm joking (of course) but this thread is at 66 pages now, and has not had a single post from a CCP employee. Poor Wrangler seems to be holding the fort all by himself it seems. This says a great deal about him, and even more about CCP I'm sorry to say.

Originally by: Joshua Calvert how long were the servers down
About half the time the servers have been down, the other half they've been flakey at best.
Originally by: Joshua Calvert and what was the problem?
No idea. CCP aren't talking, only ISD, and that's 3rd hand info.
Originally by: Joshua Calvert 78 pages is a bit much to scan through O.o
Yes it is, we're going for a record post!

Willfully incompentent would imply that will was involved.
