Originally by: John Blackthorn Recently I had a very simular issue with my server farm. It ended up being my mux that brings in my dual ds3's was over heating. It would shut down and restart about every 10-15 mins.

While there are "simple" stop gap fixes for most network hardware, CCP have shown it's not network issues by having to reboot servers.
With the problems CCP have had over time it's really time that they introduce real quality of service / uptime guarentees and posted compensation rates. Most large hosting companies give a days's service for every hour they are down (beyond a certain defined point).
note sorry if this has been posted multiple times. it seems like the webservers are having problems too now. Too much negative feeling from their customers maybe ?

CCP please keep the news board updates I'm sure it can't be that hard to put regular messages on http://myeve.eve-online.com/mb/news.asp
Atleast then your customers aka me and the other couple of thousand that are getting steadily more annoyed know that they are people looking at the problem and attempting stuff instead of crossing their fingers and hitting the reboot button.

Ok think about this.......50,000 subscribers paying $15.00 a month...that is a LOT of money. CCP use this money to buy more hardware please....I can't believe there is no money left over to buy more reliable hardware to stop lag and downtime.
From official posts ages ago CCP use M$ SQL on multiprocessor servers. Have you seen the licence costs associated with that.
Note this is not an invite to start a flame war. Just a statement that a large chunk of the money we pay is gone on licencing costs before you start to look at wages or sending staff off to conventions.

Howmany EULA's have stood up in court. There are usually a bunch of 'illegal' statemants (contractually speaking) in most EULA's that are there purely to scare people out of taking legal action. No I haven't gone through CCP's EULA with a fine tooth comb to check the exact legalities of it. As yet I haven't been annoyed enough to. Not to mention that CCP has changed the EULA on more than one occasion and while yes you have the right to terminate your account, most people have invested considerable time and older players such as myself money into the game, so the option to simply stop paying doesn't cut it.

As I've also said, you have all the information I have, as soon as anyone tells me more I'll tell you more.
But to be honest I think that they will investigate it and then post some news on what exactly went wrong and why. This kind of information will most likely come from CCP directly and not me.
the news board is a great place for that sort of info. It isn't going to get lost with all the comments players are making
