Why make the new HUD UI so big? Did you even consider how much larger this new system is compared to the old?
I'm just not sure how to answer that... our plan was obviously not "hey, let's make bigger UI just to mess with them". Last time I compared the 2 designs they were very similar size, just differently distributed. That is your story? Go into the current TQ client, target 10 things. And task something on each. Not how big the whole set is, wide and tall. Now go into the build for winter, target 10 things, task stuff to them, and compare the size difference to the first test. Then tell me its very similar in size. It adds a whole unit and a half to the end of the line from what we have now. I will mess around with different configurations, like targets stacked vertically, tomorrow, Duality willing. Well yes... last time I did compare the 2 design they were pretty similar, and I wrote about it here... but it's not some "story" I'm trying to sell, it's just simply my observations at the time. (if you are comparing stuff, make sure you also factor in the 2 extra bars, ecm and misc, that can appear below the health bars on the version that is on TQ now).
I will be trying this out though, now that I have finished implementing the ECM counters. CCP karkur | User Interface Programmer | Team Pony Express | @CCP karkur |

ive a feeling someone hasnt applied 90% UI scaling to their test client yet... |

Checked Duality and I like new UI changes - a lot. Good work - thanks!
P.S. Could be nice to change overview, fleet, directional scan interfaces. Surely those Excel sheets aren't the best interface design possible - there could be at least ships icons a-la World of Tanks. |

The option to toggle self bracket would be ideal. We can still ctrl+f9 and other things to make pretty images. Your ship does have a bracket when zoomed out now. Perhaps they could make it a different color or different shape to make it stand out more.

UI related question about the directional scanner:
How feasible would it be to add a drop down box to the number entry field on the D-Scan were you could pick between "km" and "AU" for the distance you want to scan. Possibly even a slider underneath that represented in increments how many AU the number you had just entered was. |

Needs a hud option and a short cut key plus a way to change the default location.
Just to answer your question... I'm not sure since I'm not working on it. Maybe some of my team mates can give an answer after the weekend
id like to see an option to lock the cam in relation to my ship so that if i put the cam behind my ship it will always be in that location in relation to me ship so if i turn my ship the cam turns with it know what i mean? also the new cam option does not center on what i clicked it just moves it under my windows and does not help. make it center on the screen please |

The problem is that is shouldn't be the same bracket as used on other ships, as it can lead to confusion, especially amongst our newer players. Thus it would be better to handle it in a different way, introducing a new bracket for your ship for example.
we can take a look at it, but it won't happen until after Retribution. |

I write here some suggestions. I wrote this before to little changes, but maybe not too little, and i think this is Team Pony table. Maybe some part of it can be made.
Cyno, Covert Cyno and Jump portal generator module tooltip
-Display fuel consumption, Show a red warning if not enough fuel in cargo(fuel bay) -optional - yellow circe around module icon that warn us to module is unable to activate
Ship Jump Virtual Module Icon (like new ew effect bar icons)
-it appears when cyno is up for your capital, or you are in jump range near a titan ,black ops or cynogenerator -it has tooltip with the system name, the range in lightyear -in tooltip you can see fuel consumtion (if need fuel to jump), show a red warning if not enough fuel in cargo(fuel bay) -optional - yellow circe around module icon that warn us unable to jump
If multiple destination active -little number in right top corner of the icon showing how many destination active -multiple tooltip information -click on the virtual jump icon, then select destination from dropdown menu
some extra ideas:
Number indicator to effect bar like ui
-lilttle number in right top corner of the icon showing how many ship scrambling or other ewing you
New effect indicator icon - Somebody targeting you
New effect ndicator icon - Somebody shooting you
-little number in right top - how many this counters need to spike, if you are primarized
Targeting icon change - Shooting counter
The shooting indicator would be awesome to display in targeting icons (targeted ship) -counter display how many other pilot damaging your target -The logistics pilots would see primary dropping or spikeing! -And this help the others dpsing pilots too! |

Just got my 1st impression on Duality
1. The new damage notification is good, but the font and color seems a little cartoonish (reminds me of City of Heroes). Can the time the old notifications linger be reduced a bit.
2. I don't like the new targetting row (the row of targets that is on the hud when a target is selected fo rthe following reasons:
-Having the turret, drone, EWAR icons on the the bottom instead of the side isn't as crisp IMHO -The three square boxes were more inuitive to determine shield, armor, and hull. The new circles aren't as clearly appreciated (I actually remember when the original 2003 release boxed used to look like this and the change to the squares was clearly better).
-The icons seems bigger to me than before and take up more space.
Here are my comments about the new target reticles: 1. Can the line thickness of the reticle be reduced significantly? It would like better if the line thickness was only about 1/2 of what it is now as its kindof glaring and cartoonish.
3. For the current targets selected, the old reticles arrows (the ones that rotate around the active target) rotated faster than the current ones. This made that target stand out a bit more in the heat of battle. Can the rotation of the current reticle design be sped up? 2. Can the size of the reticle scale a bit with the ship distance. At lot distances its hard to see the actual ship inside the reticle and whether its a Bship, cruiser, or frig.
4. Perhaps it would be better to have another way to indicate the magnitude of damage coming in rather than coloring the entire circle red. A small red dot for which the color intensity varied with the magnitude of damage may be enough. Or perhaps only a small fraction of the circle

Will the notify type messages in the log be included in the scroll? If not the text in the old box needs to have some color so it stands out. |

Excellent improvements.
Two issues: - i feel the target circle on the ship in space is a tiny litte bit too big. - Since you introduce the Microjumpdrive (MJD), currently there is no info for DISRUPTOR or a SCRAM. It just reads "Warp Scrambled" above HUD and "Pilot is warp scrambeling me" on the OV. Suggestion: If i am disrupted by 5 players and scrammed by 1 i get one icon above HUD "Warp Disrupted (5x)" and another icon "Warp Scrambled (1x)".
BIG WISH for a SMALL CHANGE for immersion and tactical info:
All ships on the grid should have at least their Shiptype tag shown at ALL times (best as an option in OV settings), not only on mouse-over: When one jumps into a hostile fleet, it would be great to fly with Tactial zoomed appropriately and see "Drake left, Rapier far off ahead, the Sabre just behind be." This benefits small gangs and solo players A LOT, since all the enemy has to do is "1 hostile, lock, kill". It is very distracting to mouse-over everything to see which is which and then 10 seconds later everyting is in some place else.
In larger engagements people tend to use the overview and distance, so if there are many ships around it can clog up the screen, hence it should be a toggle. The info is loaded in the OV anyways, so its already there :)
THANKS
(ps: if there is a way to keep that "Selected Item" window stay minimized would be appreciated) |

I think the the square brackets, bar lock timers, and bar shield/armor/hull icons had a crisper look then the circular look of the current build. The concept of adopting a better gauge of incoming damage did not neccesitate completely revamping the current HUD all together. In doing too much I think we've actually taken some steps back... or as they say were I'm from, 'if its not broke, don't fix it". |

Going to have a new thread once we get our changes into the staging branch. Expect more news before the weekend.
Main changes:
- New target icons.
- Damage flash now is top damage dealers over time
- Camera tracking settings (and keyboard shortcut you can set)

was on bucking. a few hours ago and encountered soem issues.
first; the camera tracking is now in a eve-style option menu which is good but it gets set to tracking the target everytime you undock. so if i disable it and dock, after undocking the camera start tracking again -> not good.
secondly the red circle area indicating the enemy with most damage done overlays with targeting timer (during the targeting process) and the health bars, making them pink when full und red when empty. the difference between pink and red is hard to reckognize in this case so maybe make the red underlay a bit smaller? to be honest i liked the red bracked flashing for successful hits by the enemie more...
otherwise the new hud works fine for me and fits right in with the other circular hud elements :) |

Then it will be a good idea to get the "alt" feature back. On TQ, when you press alt, you get a bracket on your ship. This was far enough to see exactly where your ship is. A single circle like the one you got when you click on your ship would be perfect. |
