You're right  The counter wasn't there in the old days. I meant ship spinning. But the main question with the counter is: "Is there something that happens anytime?" Maybe integer overflow and the station explodes or something? Indeed, ship spinning counter is new; do we want to go into the discussion about ship spinning or just smile and be happy that it returned? 
Every 100 spins and every 1000 spins something happens.
