Did you actually read the rules and try to understand them? The rules define the only supported form of character trading and tell you exactly what both parties need to do. You can also read existing threads in the bazaar to better understand how it all works. CCP won't tolerate any scamming with legit character trades, so if you followed the rules and you were still scammed, you'll get everything back and the scammer gets banned. |

Here's how it should work.
-Person A wants to buy Character B -Person A negotiates with Character B and they come to a conclusion. -Person A posts on the thread the price they have both agreed upon. -Character B may/may not confirm this. -Peron A sends the agreed amount to Character B (NEVER SEND THE AGREED ISK TO AN ALT/ANOTHER CHARACTER EVEN IF THEY ASK FOR IT) -Character B confirms they have received the ISK. -Person A then sends a mail to Character B with his/her account username. -Character B confirms they have received the mail and initiates the transfer. -Character B then posts that they have initiated the transfer.
*There is then a 10hour cool down period*
-Person A receives the character to the account they requested after 10hours. |

Somewhere in there Char B should transfer the received isk to Char C, else the isk will end up back at the buyer of the character (Person A) It is never too late to turn from the errors of your ways: He who repents of his sins is almost innocent.

It should, yes. But that's up to Character B what s/he does with the ISK. I've just outlined the basic steps in the perspective of the buyer. |

Although if you forget to move the isk, and the buyer is being a wanker or hasn't logged on, you can petition and the GM will get you the money. The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse [lady of commercial virtue]. We don't just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.- James Nicoll |

Of course, but it's easier and faster to just not forget to do it in the first place :)

I have to agree with the OP that my first character purchase was very confusing. I am not an idiot and I took extra steps and time to read all the rules and so on an so forth. Part of this was my fear of being scammed which is rampant in Eve. They list out the rules and are very good at telling you what you CANT do but no where will you find a description of the process itself.
Crrrazy Ivan just did a better job of describing the character purchase process than any CCP documentation you can find in the character bazaar forums.

Isn't there a bit when someone pays ccp money to transfer the character to the new account. Usually the seller. |

I thought you never give out your account information to anyone and the only thing that is traded us the character which should be in an NPC corp and have zero assets.
Correct, the seller pays the fee right at the end, this is outlined in this step "Character B confirms they have received the mail and initiates the transfer".
And yes, you only buy characters that are in NPC corps. In addition, the selling mechanics wouldn't even allow the seller to sell his account if he was in a player corp. As for the assets, the character selling his char can have 10bn worth of ships in assets however, he cannot use the value of his/her assets to raise the price of the character. This is a bit of a grey area as it's usually hard/impossible to prove. |
