This gave me such a giggle today I thought I'd share it with you. I'll not mention the perpetrator's name ... if he reads this, he'll know who he is.
My hauler is parked at a station on my second PC, just idling there while I'm blasting pirates on my main PC/account.
I notice a request to initiate chat dialog box pop up on the second PC, I don't recognise the name. I lean over and click to accept the chat invitation.
"10,000 ISK to pass"
I'm a little confused; I had also lost a cruiser to a "toll pirate" in a battleship the day before yesterday, so my tolerance of pirates was not exactly good at the time.
I reply: "10,000 ISK to kiss my ass".
"10,000 ISK to pass".
I'm sat in station, I'm confused as hell now ... (at this point I've not figured out exactly what is going on.) I'm thinking this is a guy new to pirating who is just sending messages to people in his system demanding money, hoping some may just pay him - nope, I'm wrong; I check local channel and the guy is not even in the same system as me.
so I tell him "Sorry, but you're just going to have to shoot me"
"10,000 ISK or I'm going to blow you up"
"Ok, shoot me ... better yet, just try and target me"
He vanishes from the chat window.
A short while later I notice I have a new eve-mail. I open it, it's a message from CONCORD. "The destruction of your pod blah blah blah". At this point I figure out what's actually happened.
Yep, he was trying to hold up an empty escape pod! I had jettisoned a capsule a day or 2 earlier for someone who wanted to clear out his assets window (in case you don't know, you can repackage capsules and trade them ... and load them into a hauler and jettison them).
I nearly fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.
To be fair to the guy ... a) 10,000 ISK is a more reasonable toll than a lot of people try to charge you, and b) He did carry through his threat and destroy the capsule.
I'm hoping he also took a security hit from killing the unoccupied pod, but I'm not sure how that works ... I like to at least *think* that he took a sec hit =)
Anyone else got an amusing tale to tell?
