Could anyone give me some options please?
Shield or armour, what modules are best to fit, which skill tree's are best to train etc.
using a combination of 720mm's and heavys in the high slots
(got pwned on a lvl3 deadspace mission last night and want revenge!)

Edited by: chillz on 06/04/2005 13:07:46 To be honest with 720's and heavy launchers you should be able to sit outside most of the npc's ranges.
I use a med t2 sheild booster, 10Mn AB, sensor booster in the mids. Low slots, cap recharge / stuff you need for fitting / damage mods.
Keep your distance and you shouldn't have too many problems.
Edit: Having 2 heavy launchers for damage and a standard launcher for defenders can work nicely (I know everyone always says a rocket launcher for defenders but as defenders only target one missile at a time it seems pointless to get 8/9 in space over a short space of time only for 6/7 of them to go to waste when the targeted incomming missile is dead). ----------------------------------- A gun and a packet of sandwiches.

If you're shortcutting on tanking to fit 720s, I'd decline drone deadspace missions.
If you're not, then more power to you :)

armor tank ftw
depend on your skill and mission type, fit 2 small armor rep 2. 2 small armor rep 2 is better than 1 regular med size coz it not only save you caps but also save you lots of grid and cpu. put 2-3 armor hardner and you can tank very well for a long time in lvl3 mission.
Use 3 heavy launchers with FOF missiles, FOF is heavily underated but it is proven very useful to take out frigate size rats. While doing less damage on paper, it has huge ROF bonus in RL.
Play around using my set up with ruppy, i wouldn't say its walk in the park, but i did all lvl3 in above setup for months

I did a few complex's with just a medium shiled boster II. Same as the guy before but had a cap recharge. I fit my lows with some tracking mods to help hit fast frigates, add more range to guns, as well a ballistic control, and a power diagnostic II (Cheap cap recharge/720 support). I had a similar setup for weaponry but I had all 720's, Heavy Missiles with 1 Assault Missile Launcher for faster ballistics if I needed it. Helps out vs cruisers shooting missiles or Frigates getting to close.
But who knoww now. Guess you can "Target Jam" NPC's now. Might be cool to just run 1AB, and 2 Multi-Jammers's. That way you can just use a Armor Rep =)

I didnt have much problem with the deadspace missions on L3 because the ships start far enough away from you. But in some of the non deadspace ones, I usually get cought and beat down in my Rupture if I dont warp away.
So for non deadspace I like to fit like a tempest. Smaller guns like 220s + cap booster + armor repairer (or 2)+ armor hardner. Try and tank the damage that way.
I didn't have much luck though so I do the L3 in my Cyclone. ____ If your not dyin' your not tryin'. |

For level 3s in my Rupture I just use 3 heavy launchers, 3 280 projectiles with EMP (or standard range...been a long time since I flew it). Then 2 tech 2 medium armor repairers (yes you heard right). Then the rest purely goes to cap. I can run both armor reps indefinitely. Cap hovers around 45%. Thats with Energy Sys Ops 4 and Energy Management 4. Never had to warp out in any level 3 mission.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
Did the lvl3 deadspace Damsel mission last night, eventually! Almost got pwned by the Zazzamattaz Assassin but figured it out in the end, Armour tanking is my new best friend!
I'll need up upskill my elec/eng tree skills to make the most of the suggestions here, still rely on PDU/RCU's in low slots. When I can I think I'll try 10mn AB, 2 x Cap rechargers in Mids, Med Armour repair and armour hardeners in lows and fiddle from there.
Felt good popping my first 100k isk rat!
