The EVE Forum Moderator Team is now accepting applications for Moderators. The EVE Forum Moderator Team is known as Communications Relay Commission and is a part of the EVE Volunteer Program known as Interstellar Services Department. We monitor the EVE Message Boards to make sure the Forum Rules are followed, while interacting with the community. Having English as your first language is not a requirement!
Requirements:
- Good communication skills including good written skills.
- Active participation in the discussions on the EVE Message Boards.
- A minimum of 3 months playing EVE.
- No forum bans issued, a low amount of warnings may be accepted.
- Experience using IRC is prefered but not a requirement. We ask you
to include your experience with IRC somewhere in the application.
- 18 years of age is a minimum, older is a merit.
People from all places of the world are welcome to reply, but we are especially seeking for people from outside Europe, that does not mean we wonÆt accept applicants from Europe.
A well written application is a big plus! We look at other things as well, but good application has a better chance.
German and French
We are also looking for German and French speaking moderators. You have to qualify for the requirements above, but you also have to have good communication and written skills in German respectively French.
You can apply by clicking the ôInterstellar Svcs Deptö button under ôEVE INSIDERö in the menu to your left. If you have already submitted an application please update it. We also request that you only check the ôEVE Forum Mod (CRC)ö choice under question 5 (What area are you interested in guiding for?). This will make it easier for us to see who is interested.
You can read more about the EVE Volunteer Program (ISD) and EVE Forum Moderator Team (CRC) in the FAQ and the Player Guide.
One update, our systems rely on you having the correct email in your account details. If you have an old email there that you don't use we will not be able to contact you. Make sure your email is updated under account management!!

Different from team to team. CRC does these big recruitment things sometimes, and other times we recruit directly if we see someone we think would be a good candidate on the forums, though this is probably the most common way for us to recruit.
We recruit people to CRC though, not people who just wants to be wherever in ISD or people who really want to be in another team but can settle for less until they can request to transfer. That's why we ask everyone to only apply for CRC, and to update their application since an old one might not be accurate anymore.

Lol, nice, even though I had to change it to a link. Too big to use as a sig though.

Timezones, we have US moderators working their butt off because most other moderators are from Europe.
Of course, we're a bit low on man power at the moment, so most of us are working hard.

As long as you update your application, or have updated it since this thread was posted, we will reply to your application with either a rejection or an invite to an interview.
However, it might take a few days before we get to your application and have time to check it over. So if you don't get a reply immediately, be patient, it can take a few days.

We have a special ISD account, it doesn't affect your player account at all. ISD and player identity are to be kept separate at all times.

It can also be because you miss a field for some reason.

Originally by: Slaveabuser Some people with moderating experience might be interested, but working as a mod on a board with as much traffic as this one for free........well seams abit cheap to me.
You get some form of compensation, but even it's more a gesture than anything else, it doesn't really cover the time you spend moderating.
But frankly, if you're not interested to do it without getting paid, we're not interested in having you as a volunteer.

No, we would like to see that you've played for 3 months recently, not a while ago.

Originally by: Braaage Well I applied once and heard nothing, thought about re-applying but doubt it's worth doing...
If you update your application to make it only an application for CRC we will reply, even if it's only to say no. I can't say exactly what we're looking for, but a well written application does increase your chances.

Why 18 and older :(
(ye i guessed why, just like complaining at mods , dont get to do it much on my forums being the admin lol)
Partly because you have to sign some documents and if you're not of legal age they wouldn't be binding. But also because we do want some maturity in moderators. Age doesn't always guarantee that, but it increases the chance.
Originally by: Nikolai Nuvolari Edited by: Nikolai Nuvolari on 11/04/2005 16:47:16 So what does a forum moderator DO on a daily basis...just cruise the forums looking for threads to lock, illegal stuff to cut out, and pictures to convert into links? Or is there some kind of structure to what you guys do?
By the way, do you guys need Klingon-speaking moderators?
There is a structure, but it is mostly about checking the forums and taking the appropriate action when you encounter something breaking the rules.

Also how many mods are you looking to recruit and any specific time zone? When will you stop recruiting and lastly whats the differnt titles you all have mean?
Well, when you join you get some training, but most of the training is based on practical moderating, taking care of situations with the help of the rules and guidelines documents, and ofc the more experienced moderators. Which is why IRC is important. You're considered a newbie moderator for about 4 weeks, but I'd say that it takes a few months to become a "full" moderator.
I'm mainly looking for people I think can become good moderators, but I admit that if you live in a US timezone or speak german or french you have a higher chance of getting accepted to the interview phase. You won't have it easier to pass it though. We will probably stop recruiting in a few weeks, but it really depends on when we get enough people for this time.
The titles currently on our signatures are Moderator, Lead Moderator and Moderator Team Lead. These are on their way out and we're starting to use a more military based ranking system. We already use it internally, but it will be used more publically in the future.

You can't reply to the emails sent out as a reply to your application, it doesn't reach anyone.

If I haven't made this clear enough I want to say this again. If you're interested in becoming a moderator you have to submit an application for Moderator only!!! We will not reply to applications where you checked both Moderator and another team in ISD.
If you then get a rejection reply, you can reapply for other teams if you wish.

Write a well thoguht through application is my best advise, long and good answers to the questions does give you an advantage and it makes you more likely to get to the interview.

Originally by: Danatooga Floobert I have a minor query, I've been accepted to Aurora's interview but heard nothing from CRC, ideally I'd like to do CRC as that's where I've got the most experience, when I did the application it refused to be accepted unless I filled in all fields of which groups I wanted to apply for, should I just wait to see if CRC give me an interview too?
You need to decide which team you want to apply for, recruitment does take a lot of time and we wont use it to let you choose which team you like best.
