You get some form of compensation, but even it's more a gesture than anything else, it doesn't really cover the time you spend moderating.
But frankly, if you're not interested to do it without getting paid, we're not interested in having you as a volunteer.

Haiku is spring sun: Limericks are but grey clouds Still I cherish them
A limerick I would say Could be the perfect way To lock a thread When discussion is dead Pity moderation isn’t done in this way

Edited by: Nikolai Nuvolari on 11/04/2005 16:47:16 So what does a forum moderator DO on a daily basis...just cruise the forums looking for threads to lock, illegal stuff to cut out, and pictures to convert into links? Or is there some kind of structure to what you guys do?
By the way, do you guys need Klingon-speaking moderators? ___________________________________________ ^^^***---All things serve the Beam---***^^^ |

Her boyfriend might have issue with that. Wrangler's single AFAIK, I might be able to arrange a date with him if you are interested.
On a more serious note, moderators have a single play account paid for by CCP if the vol meets the weekly required hours. That is the only true tangible "perk". Some of the intangibles include the comraderie of working with other vols, getting to see some of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes, being able to make jokes at Wrangler's expense and a whole mess of other things.
With the exception of the uncommon instances where a major issue crops up or patch days, the forums really don't have a bad traffic pattern. It's really not a bad job and can be quite fun at times.

No, we would like to see that you've played for 3 months recently, not a while ago.

Why do you give up so quick, keep trying if your interested in some thing worth wild? Always try never give up if you didnĘt get it last time then this time send in two applications but donĘt just give up like that. If you wanted some thing that bad you will do every thing you can to get it.

If you update your application to make it only an application for CRC we will reply, even if it's only to say no. I can't say exactly what we're looking for, but a well written application does increase your chances.

Partly because you have to sign some documents and if you're not of legal age they wouldn't be binding. But also because we do want some maturity in moderators. Age doesn't always guarantee that, but it increases the chance.

There is a structure, but it is mostly about checking the forums and taking the appropriate action when you encounter something breaking the rules.

Well, when you join you get some training, but most of the training is based on practical moderating, taking care of situations with the help of the rules and guidelines documents, and ofc the more experienced moderators. Which is why IRC is important. You're considered a newbie moderator for about 4 weeks, but I'd say that it takes a few months to become a "full" moderator.
I'm mainly looking for people I think can become good moderators, but I admit that if you live in a US timezone or speak german or french you have a higher chance of getting accepted to the interview phase. You won't have it easier to pass it though. We will probably stop recruiting in a few weeks, but it really depends on when we get enough people for this time.
The titles currently on our signatures are Moderator, Lead Moderator and Moderator Team Lead. These are on their way out and we're starting to use a more military based ranking system. We already use it internally, but it will be used more publically in the future.

If I haven't made this clear enough I want to say this again. If you're interested in becoming a moderator you have to submit an application for Moderator only!!! We will not reply to applications where you checked both Moderator and another team in ISD.
If you then get a rejection reply, you can reapply for other teams if you wish.
