to try and get this back on topic and away from the flames, yes scanprobes in the right hands are an extremely powerful tool, even more so after tmrw as the scan time will be greatly reduced. Overpowered? not at all. It takes 5 seconds to make a safe spot, it takes a lot longer to narrow and down and scan for that safe spot

The most powerful weapon in the game right now is a FRICK pilot named Farjung in a covert ops ship with scan probes.
The least powerful weapon in the game right now is the same pilot in any other frigate with guns. -

Is it just me or is there far too much talk of logging on and off?
Forget how useful probes are and speed they work the fact player are happy to just jump out of game to avoid the conciquences of anothers actions.
Don't know about anyone else but I log on and stay logged on until I go to bed or have to log off and stay off. If I get caught due to my own stupidity then I take the conciquences and remain logged in, if I am camped in a system I stay logged while I try and escape. If I attack something I am always in local and not hidden off game waiting for a wordto log back on.
Maybe my stupid honour gets in the way of winning at all costs but I would rather use the ingame tools given to try and achieve my objectives than some lame arse log off and on to gain an advantage.
Anyway sorry for semi off topic comments....

Fact of the matter is ships shouldnt dissapear as in magic when someone logs off, the ships should remain in space where the person logged off.
you want to be safe? log off in a station. this logging in space has got to be dealt with a spaceship should be able to be found if it is not cloaked whether the person is logged in or not.

Worst idea ever tbh. Maybe if you're a sad git with no life who mistakes Eve for Real Life this would be a good idea. If like the rest of us you occasionally need to log out in the middle of a 20 jump trip between stations in 0.0, this would be the cause of many cancelled subscriptions. Theres no way I'd carry on playing if I could lose my BS while offline.

Simpler solution: ships try to warp away, and then after 1-2minutes tries to cloak, when logging off (as if the ship had a Cov Ops Cloak). If the ship manages to cloak, the server can magic it away to save the Niyabainen node. Only case these standard "Covert Ops" cloaking rules would be suspended would be for NPCs - I bet there are a lot of players legitimatly lagging out in middle of NPC spawns. --

Pyrex, I really liked your story. I hope you continue to improve your search and destroy skills. It's too bad your enemies had to log off. I feel that breaks the immersion of the game. Ships shouldn't be able to just disapear. Keep it up

Edited by: Phony v2 on 12/04/2005 00:01:13 Scan probes 4tw...I only wish that their presence or scanning activation of 3 au probes would cause pilots ships to remain in space for a few...logging off is teh suck
Down with the log off run!
EDIT: regarding post below me. Stealth scan probes! they dont show up on scanner! that would be most fun...

Has anyone noticed an improvement with the probes post patch?
I am stuck in the star system of London at work for the week and cannot find a suitable jump gate other than Paddington to Esa gate.
Let me know if people are happy with the changes to the probes and if they are more useful
Also can someone (sorry to talk techincal now) tell me if the problem with the planetary plane is sorted?
Cheers fellow space buddies
