Either implement dynamic demand / supply or shut down the server on time and restart the server on time please.
Any ETA on this?

"Dear players, The daily downtime will begin in 5 minutes at 11:20 GMT and last for one hour. The servers will be back up again at 12:00 GMT. Please make sure your characters are out of harms way before the servers close."
I bet 1 million ISK that it will not be 12:00 GMT.
Whoever replies first and the server is running on 12:00 GMT gets the money.
Icelandic time: 40 min = 1 hour.

Molly, you nag about everything? And how is this post helping EVE? Oh that's right, your 1 million isk could benefit someone if the server does not come back on time.....bleh. "There's more than one side to a story..."-Reporter for the InterCorp Courier Enterprises |

I really wouldn't mind the fact that the servers are down more than the estimate, if the devs would be so nice to post it on the news ie: Unfortunately the servers will not be up on time due to some unforseen errors, we are working to solve these problems and we hope that the servers will be up within <insertnumber here> secs/mins/hours.
After all, who wouldn't be annoyed if a tv station didn't put up the Temporary unavailable sign and just had the screen freeze for an hour.

Of course, like I said yesterday somewhere...
CCP is going about it all wrong. Scotty on Star Trek original series said "Never tell the Captain how long it will ACTUALLY take..."
Players are more upset about CCP taking more than the hour they set for downtime, when they would be happy about CCP taking less time for a set 2 hour downtime. Too late for that now, though, should have started from the beginning saying downtime was 2 hours all the time.

Only complaint I have is 5 minute warning is REDICULOUS. Fortunatly I'd moved all mine but someone who I was chatting too had 60K pyro ( which is about 15 mins work ) to shift. Dunno if the container will still be there post shutdown. But also peeps may find themselves in dangerous spots which could cause the loss of ships etc.

Morkalum Takor, I am not here to help CCP. I am here to play the game. Help yourself (CCP) and god will help you.
CCP is the only party so far which hinders me from playing the game.
I know a lot of people who did not buy the game and won't do it, because they know (and they knew in beta) how bad the patch days and server and client reliability is.
Let's face it:
- We have patch days with catastrophal impact on the game world. - We have far more downtime than the promised 1h each day. - We have CTDs and a lot of bugs destroying the assets of the players.
And the worst thing for me is: They don't have emergency bug fixes and even if they fix something then they mostly screw it up at the same time.
Currently I am asking me what I'd prefer: A game with a screwed PvP design like DAoC PvP but good customer service or a game with good innovative design but weak customer service. ---

The downtime should start at the same time each day so that players know where they stand. If you want to alternate downtime start to help out with different timezones make a policy on the website and stick to it.
Mon,Tue,Wed start at 12gmt Thur,Fri,Sat start at 11gmt or whatever
Also extend your downtime by default to be 2 hours. That way we can all say ooo look the servers are back up early, rather than oh still down :(
If you are going to extend downtime or change the start/end time please post it in the news on the website so that players who were not in the game know about it.
Also try to give at least a days warning if downtime times are to be changed.
Just my opinion.. However thats how we schedule downtime when we do daily maintainence work on company db servers. We find users won't complain about downtime so much when they have had plenty of time to digest the fact that it is happing at a given time.
Whats the point in saying downtime 12 while 1 gmt everyday and not sticking to it... Sure players should be more understanding when you occasionally overrun, things happen outside your control. But do yourselves a favour and make it a 2 hour scheduled downtime, at least then you should never really overrun, and usually be up early.
