Yup, last payout on my Sacrilege (not that I lost one, mind you ) was 17 million.

INsure payout was 17mil for 5 on my first, my second and my third deimos. So think it's safe to say, it's 5mil for 17mil payout ;) ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

Yep, makes you wonder why your flying the most expensive ship to lose in the game. Then you remember how much fun it was, and how cool you felt, so you imediatly buy anouther.

Edited by: slothe on 15/04/2005 10:34:30 before i fly any hac i make sure i have a spare in the garage to avoid having to queue again :/
theres no point imho insuring them at all, the payouts a further insult to losing the ship..

T2 ships are expensive because the producers have an monopoly and starbases arent producing enough parts to keep up with demand (yet). Personally 50-60mil losses arnt thad bad on a T2 ship compaired to the average battleship loss
(Raven "accidents" suck)

Aye, I remember when I lost my first Deimos, I thought to myself, "Ah well, I can live without one for a few days/weeks" - but after about an hour, I was so sick and tired of bumbling around in a hulking Battleship, I immediately made a bee-line for Empire space and bought me another - at an inflated price of course!
Having read a BDCI post about them, HAS cost as much to replace as a Battle-cruiser when produced internally - a lot of it is due to the insane demand, especially when people order batches, or wait for one as they train up the skills. A Covert Ops ship with a COCD II was apparently worth 100m in parts when it came out, but now you can get both for 25-30m, despite the fact that the manufacturors swore on their mother's grave that they cost the former!
17 million is a bit of an arse considering how much you shelve out for the weapon systems, but as someone has already said, it's better than a kick in the teeth - and at least it stops too many carebears from taking them out for a spin...

Well, you have to take into account the pain-in-the-arse quality of gathering tech 2 components. Have you tried doing a BYOC for a HAC? Now imagine doing that 5-6 times a week. They're expensive because they are a pain in the booty to make.

Why do people always come out with the OMG price hogging or whatever. I've lost several, and I think the prices are fair enough. They're a pain to build. And they're worth their cost in fun value to me. ~{When evil and strange get together anything is possible}~ A tool is only useless when you don't know how to use it. - ActiveX The grass is always greener on the other side. - JoCool |

LOL aye, I've lost a couple of Deimos's but after losing the first one and having to wait a couple of days I always have a spare one in the hanger before taking mine out into hardcore PvP.
But I've got addicted to them! I just cant get enough of HAC's I've got 4 now... Cerby, Munnin, Deimos and Ishtar. all have good points and bad - but they all rock in one way or another!

I dont think its calculated by the mins/componants price whoever said that.
Tech II get a 110% insurance cover i think, and thats all.

they cost around 30-40mil to build, depending on what u can get the components for. The main reason they are expensive is cos it takes 36 hours to build them which keeps demand extremely high. You can put 1 on market in yulai at 100mil and it will sell within the hour easily. Why sell em for 60mil when u can quite happily put em on at 100?
Supply and demand people
Oh, and yes it is nice having the MC being able to build them

i do find it amusing when people complain about hte high cost of tech 2 ships :P they seem to think that because the parts cost (say) 30mill, the producers should happily add on 10% or so, and call it a day... thing is, theres nothing the producers can do about it. if my corp was to put 10 cerberi on the market today, for 35mill each, theyd all immediately get bought up by one person, who would then sell them on at approximately 100% profit (or something like that, dont know prices these days) just for the effort of buying them and putting them up for sale again... erm... i'm sure i was going somewhere with this... cant see where now tho... so to finish up: Tech 2 ships = expensive. live with it.

Unfortunately, due to a 'Player Driven Economy', it is excedingly hard for CCP to introduce insurance for Tech 2 ships.
Just like everything else in Eve, don't fly what you can't afford to replace.

i want prices for tech 2 to decrease, not for insurance to increase. i'd hope that by the time we see tech 3 around the place, something like a HAC will only cost about the insurance price. Yes, it will be better than tech 1 stuff of the same value, but so it should be. its advanced tech.

Well with the lower upkeep POS and people getting T2 comp ingredients instead of the comps themselves should push down the prices a bit (hopefully). Until people in empire can get access to morphite yielding ore though the prices will still be higher than they should.

Er?
There's now ADDED COMPLEXITY. This increases prices. Allways.

You have to expect to pay a "premium" for a status symbol of any type. I think it's fair to say that HAC are status symbols for people who thrive on pvp and are good enough at it to sustain, econonmically, this little expensive platform!
8 days to HAC skill 5 for me.

The problem are not the tech II components nor the insurance. It is the R&D system, the lottery and in the end the monopoly it encourage (high prices...) The game needs more BPO or an other R&D system (the first is realistic) As the player base growth, the numnber of BPO should also rise or the prices will rise. Maybe in 1 year we will have a better R&D system
