If titans and dreadnoughts and carriers are too huge to dock with stations, how will a measly factory construct them?
And since the backstory seems to suggest that the discovery of moonrich *worlds*, not asteroid belts, was the key to the recurrance of these mighty beasts, will that mean that they will require massive amounts of moon minerals to construct?

Well, the rumors have it saying they will be built externally, via POS most likely. Im 110% sure they will take a S***load of mins to build, maybe 5-10x the avg tier 2 bs.

If they made the bulk of it moon minerals that would give players a very big incentive to switch to POS's for tech II production..

Well if I remember correctly, one of the stories about titans sugested that the Amarr ones were build by stripping a moon of all it's minerals. So I guess POS may be the place they are built. Either that or maybe new station/shipyards are in the works.

Two things are different here. You are building a ship that cannot dock at a station. Thus, it cannot be constructed in a factory.
Second, this will be a tech I ship. So, if it requires moon minerals and tech II components, it will be an entirely different animal.

another idea i heard was that you would build components of them in a factory, and they would have to be assembled in-space like a POS. Possibly also at a POS...

what sevrec said, looks the most realistic and logical way to do it, build parts that fit in cargo of indys/freighters, and then put them all together using a pos (some sort of shipyard in the pos?).

The Matari one will only require 4 Tempests, 6 Typhoons, 8 Ruptures, 2 Stabbers, 16 Vigils, 1 Mammoth and a lot of Duct tape. -- Thread Killer

Yep, I'm hoping it would be like this. Very logical/realistic indeed.
I also like shipyards, like the ones in the deadspace. I hope CCP is reading this...

I'm not sure where everyone is getting the "unable to dock with stations bit from, as Oveur undocked from the Fight Club station with his a few times last week.
Then again, there could be some revamp I don't know about coming up.
It did look kind of hunorous for a ship almost as big as a station to undock from one.

He's just testing it. They said that these ships will be too large to dock, I think, when they come out.

i thought they were too large to use jump gates, not to large to dock,

my favorite idea (was also said in this thread)
I hope that you have to build pieces of the ship and move them to a POS for construction.. but I also hope you need moon materials to finish the building.
Make them use different materials for titans so maybe you'll have to have multiple POS. Using a hauler to move different pieces from the station to the POS, then a freighter to move partially assembled pieces from one POS to another.
In the end it would be a lot like simple and complex materials. You would build some engine component and a frame in a station, each are 5000m3, you would move to a POS to 'bind' these 2 components with 2 other components to make something else that is 20k m3. 'Bind' 4 20k m3 pieces together to make a 80k m3 piece, at the end you would have maybe 20 of these 80k m3 pieces (I dunno) to bind together at a single moon, then you have a titan.
i hope it's similer but not as difficult and time consuming for dreadnaughts and carriers.. thoguh, this is under the assumption that titans are 'bigger' then dreadnaughts or carriers. ________

I was also hoping they would make it so these ships would dock outside of a station. You being able ot use station utilities but not able to hide inside a station.
At the same time, I sorta wish these ships couldn't 'log out' and you would have to store them inside a POS when you log out. I guess that would be too much to ask for in a game though.. ________
