Wow, that's so conceited, I'm stunned.
Nope, the purchase price was 100 million ISK. Try getting the facts before flapping your trap, hmm? An apology for your rudeness would be nice.

And the transfer fee to CCP is imaginary is it?

It's entirely what I meant - transfering the character for money isn't permitted, and you're trying to so hard to ruin people's gaming within the rules, I didn't expect it to have been transfered for money other than CCP's charge.

Originally by: Von Yulinor Corp theft is a crime of trust, stupidity, or lazyness. This is a human failing and nothing to do with game mechanics. You were given all the tools u needed to prevent it.
Now ore theft is a different matter
Yes, we were given all the tools needed to prevent it. But then there's no fun and no flexibility in those tools. It's simply "All of the assets belong to me and only I have access to them." What a crap set of tools, eh?
As for ore theft. Well, there's really no such thing, now, is there? Either you jet can mine or you sec can mine. Clearly you have been given all the tools to yadda yadda... -- Top 5 corporation improvements as requested by CEOÆs |

Like real world legal systems, the EVE legal system has to evolve. Justice should not be retrospective - these guys maybe were morally wrong, but we cant change the rules in the past - and the game needs bad guys anyway. So we change the rules now, and next time the corp thieves have to be more clever to get round them (and they will...).
But the more laws there are, the less efficient the system becomes...
So are there any concrete suggestions?

Edited by: kneelandbob on 20/04/2005 16:39:16 Unfortunately CCP could care less... as long as their subscription base isn't affected it's "game on". Agreed with origional post.. Advantage = SOLID crimminal There are NO provision made for consequences for their crimes.. Declare war? Impractical.. expensive.. CCP could easily put in sec flags to drastically lower them to KOS in high sec empire if they so chose. A logical response to repeated theivery. Secondly this has to extend to other alts of the offender. As it is now? big deal.. steal.. delete.. repeat.. again NO consequences. It's not the alt or main doing it. its the PERSON controlling the character who is morally bankrupt.

Yes, it is an easy crime. I stated in the other thread I was going to start applying to corps with other characters. I've gotten into a corp that's 9 members strong, all active. The CEO's been playing for a little over 3 months. The particular character I used to join with has been in game with a few different corps for almost 7 months. I've helped them learn a lot of things and we've done some mining and agent running and complexes together. My character has good building skills, so I have director access and have been building away for them. We're working on recruiting more members. They don't care about the forums at all. One day they'll have everything they own stolen. Because they're good, decent guys who just want to have fun in a game.

Originally by: Lord Artemis Edited by: Lord Artemis on 20/04/2005 02:18:20 my problem is if this goes unchecked
we will have a game of corp theives and ore thieves, hell its easier than doing anything else in game atm.
im not saying there arent measures in place, we did those, and any lock/security measure can be taken down if you know how.
and to get back on topic, im talking about balance which currently for these two things there is none. if you look at the crime vs. the possible punishments it is way too easy to commit the crime, the punishment however is unbalanced with the ease of the crime. anyone can do either of these things, there is no cunning or skill involved.
Then do something more useful than pointing out the obvious and point out a suggestion to fix the obvious, cause I'm stumped on how you do that without having players control who is a criminal...................................

People can steal from corps, why can't corps steal back?
You can't join a corp without permission, why can you leave so easily?
Why can't you give a negative reference to employees who stole?
And concord does implicitly police corporations, who hosts the virtual corp hangars in the first place? Who keeps everyone's items in seperate virtual hangars? Who do you pay for offices and member hangars?
Why can I put things in other corp members hangars, but not take them out?
Why are we forced into corp theif constructs, (aka corps) as part of the game? Why are we encouraged to use corp theif paradises (aka POSs)?
Should every corp make new players put up a billion ISK bond as insurance against their eventual betrayl? Or better yet, have skills points earned in the corp as bond.
Finally, part of the tools to prevent crime is deterrence? Where is deterrence? They broke no law? Sure, what about civil law, what about employment contracts?
The relationship is too one-sided towards the player and not enought towards the corp.

This is my character and account, I started it. Resdayn is a character sold to me by Darth Revenant for a sum of 100mil isk, since the original player quit EVE forever. It was not an account swap, the character transfer was done through CCP and he paid for it. The character went to a second account which I opened up.
Cheers.

You'd think all newbs were doomed and criminals ruled the whole galaxy...
Here's some facts: 1) Non-combat/non-pvp characters are weak and easy targets.
2) Having an all "carebear" corp, especially without alliance connections, dedicated to mining, NPC-ing, and research is.....weak...and an easy target.
3) For the most part if you stay in 1.0,0.9 + space you're safe from ore stealers...because scordite and veldspar isn't worth their time. If you go below 0.8 you are choosing to take a risk...not the other way around.
4) Ore stealers have a risk...I recently had ore stolen from me in Sharhelund and after threatening to track down the offender and pod him in lowsec (and many conversations with officers between my corp and others) eventually an apology was giving. I could have gotten my ore back, which was only 1/3 of a can of veldspar of all things, but the principle of being robbed was what drove me). I'm not a miner only...because I know that is weakness. I'm a combat character who mines for extra isk and could relieve the majority of ore-stealers and wannabe rats easily of their ships given the chance.
People act like the criminals in this game have no risk...but you're patently wrong. The last rat to destroy my mining ship still can't leave Mai because of his low sec rating and crappy ship that can't tank the sentries long enough to jump. It doesn't help that I tracked down his safespot and stole 3 Kestrels from him.
There are MANY ways of making the criminals pay...most of the whiners are too lazy to do anything about it and expect CCP to fight their battles.
