In my neck of the woods the low sec jump gates are plagued with drone nets. A drone net being lots of drones that are told to orbit a gate and then abandoned, these drones hang around for days.
My first thought was maybe abandoned drones should pop after 2 hours like wreaks and jet cans, then I had a better idea. After 2 hours a drone gets randomly destroyed (say 90%) or it turns into a rogue drone (say 10%). The sort of rogue drones that frequent lvl 1 missions (don't want anything too nasty loitering in the space lanes). Then after a period of time the rogue drones just warp off if not destroyed. The converted drones would need to be free from bounties and not create a wreak when destroyed, that will prevent them being farmed. Since high sec is patrolled by Concord I would say this only applies to low and nul sec.
I figure this would prevent abandoned drones hanging around for days/weeks and provide some light entertainment. The gate campers will have some angry drones to tame, the travelers have an added hazard to negotiate and the epic fleet fights will acquire a minor distraction when the lost drones wake up. |

I'd make it a more rare of a chance (1 or 2%) though I do like the idea of an added annoyance. I'd like to point out that drones don't have a warp drive, so they'd microwarp away from the gate and, in time, get picked up by a proper rogue drone.
I'd also give them the ability to call up proper rogue drones when attacked (again, a 1 or 2% chance), and these would never drop a faction drone nor would it be anything more challenging than what is available in that space (it'd actually be less)
that's my two cents, but otherwise I like this.

I like it. Just an extra thing to tame. Slightly more pew pew is always fun.
Why is it that people think this game is for everyone?A better question would be "Why do some people think this game is only for them?" |

I agree, I think this is an excellent idea. If you abandon your drones there should be a chance that they've gone rogue by the time you come back (if ever).
