Edited by: Flori04 on 20/04/2005 20:48:54 dunno how many of u know about naga not selling anymore occators.. cuz the owner of the bpo asked them to charge 200 mils pp and they didnt agree.. so my question is.. is there a corp or something that sells occators as cheap as they did?.. or when will occators be sold by npcs on market?.. .. i'm kinda ok with 150 mils max pp .. but indeed 200 mils is way 2 much for a hauler..

They wont be sold by npcs, their production and sale will only be player based as are most ship sales in eve the only exceptions being frigates shuttles and maybe destroyers.

then at least ccp can launch more bpos or something?... i'm pretty sure that that wont be a prob.. cuz otherwise .. an occator will reach 300 mils.. there r already peeps selling them at 270 mils.. so common.. its a bloody hauler ffs.. whats so hard to get one at a decent price?

Well according to the agent info tabs on gallente starship engineering agents there are still BPOs to be given out, as for the stupid price, prices only stay high for 2 reasons, 1. if they cost that much to make or more likely 2. people are stupid enough to be paying that much for them, when the demand for them goes down and proper competition kicks in, presuming manufacturers dont make a cartel, the prices will go down.

The problem was, that resellers buy them from NAGA at 80m (or what the price was) and resell them at 270-300m on escrow. Of course this annoyed the BPO owner, so NAGA are no longer selling them.
Resellers can ruin a lot of things. Same deal with Cap Recharger II's, if one of the BPO owners tries to set the price of them down, a reseller will just snatch up the whole lot, and sell them at the 15m price tag. Nothing that can be done about it unfortunately ___________________________________________

The short answer is to buy one from a player who recieved one from the tech2 lottery. Shouldnt cost you more then ~10-15b.
The long answer is to put a lot of training time into science skills, get your standing up to use Research Agents, wait a while to accumulate RP, and then recieve nothing. ------------------------------------------------------------------

There is also the obvious option of training up for another T2 industrial while yelling at CCP to make them all better and more equal. :) Occators are and were always going to be, the most insanely popular one because anyone who hauls a lot trained for the Mk. V.

well i already have MK V ..:D but and already trained for occator.. the only thing i'm missing is THE OCCATOR.. so i'm yelling at CCP... : GIMME AN OCCATOR OR MAKE SHIPS EQUAL..

If you:
#1 don't haul in low sec space (now that's debatable if you should be taking 300mil hauler in there if 1mil one can do the job) or #2 carry REALLY valuable stuff around in empire:
Don't buy occator. There is really no point.
Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

and once again this is a side effect of what is wrong with the tech 2 lottery, and the cry goes unheeded that the tech 2 lottery is so far beyond broken as to bring shame to calling it merely broken.
steps to fixing the tech 2 lottery.
1. first, set a standard of Research values for tech 2 bpos, ALL OF THEM BAR NONE.
2. Research Points (from here on RP) earned ONE AGENT will have a spend-able value with THAT agent.
As in grinding up a lot of RP on ships won't roll into weapons if you switch agents, that ship research agent is the only place you can spend that RP you earned with them
in your wallet/log there would/could be 6 tallies of RP for each active agent you can maintain with maximum skills and of course their names and locations.
3. when you earn XYZ amount of RP with a given agent, then they have a "break through" and can produce a BPO for you out of a limited list of known applications of their field of research. better agents would have better things but also the better things would cost VASTLY more.
when you decide on a BPO you want, you "spend" that much RP to attain it, and then the RP's are gone and you start back up the accumulation if you want.
now... to keep BPO floods a year from now, there could still be limits, but somewhere in the order of ten TIMES what they are now. even without BPO quantity limits, it's not EVER going to be an overarching problem given that it is impossible to flood the market with BP's anyway because it's production that makes the BP useful.
by itself a BP will never be anything, it takes production on the end to make it into something, and no matter what it is, battleships to frigates and everywhere in between, nothing is free of the infinitely limiting material costs to fabricate it. that will always keep them in check and by all means, let people sell battleships for 100 isk if they want, they still cost many millions to produce, and tech 2 items while likely lesser in overall cost to produce will be quite the same situation.
There will never be a flood of super cheap cap-recharger 2Æs and heavy assault cruisers, the simple cost to make one prevents that and few if any are going to be falling all over themselves to hand tech 2 items out for less than what it costs to produce them.
So more BPOÆs as well as a more simplified, and more importantly, EQUITABLE research system is the only solution to all of this silliness.

Gotta love the Item Data base
Here is what is needed to build an Occator:
Linkage
20,000,000isk at most, probably less.
However, price is driven by one simple issue: Demand vs Supply. So long as supply is scarce in relation to demand, prices will be high. I cannot afford an Occator. I want an Occator, I have the skills to fly an Occator, HOWEVER, I will NOT expect CCP to RUIN Eve by making all desirable good common.

Theres nothing at all wrong, or broken with the lottery, if you think that agent grinding is the anwer, your a fool, everyone that has the skills to use R&D agents deserves a chance to win a bpo, not just the unemployed who spend all day grinding.
you've allready got the option of agent grinding, getting a Navy bS, selling it, and buying into the Tech II industry, so give up with thye R&D lottery 'fixs' it simply isn't broken.

There is a whole HEAP of merit in the idea of a Research system based on effort rather than willingness to put in skill time and raising standings with a research corp. The problem being that if they changed to something like you suggest, *ALL* of the good BPOs would go to the power gamers. ALL of them.
At the same time, while I am a candidate for golden boy/poster child spokes-a,sshole for the pro-lottery system (I've been quite lucky), I do think the lottery system is a sad and pathetic RNG BPO distribution method; cheaply coded in because it was the fairest and most equitable way to deal with the power gamers. Oh...and let's not forget EASY...because there sure as hell are MUCH better ways to deal with the problem while at the same time making it much more interesting.
Too much pot smoking and not enough coding will get you crap like this. I swear...opening the door into the programmers room at CCP must be like wandering into a dream sequence...

oh, I think the lottery isn't a fully automated system either, its regulated by gm's who controll the amount of bpo distributed, and times of distributation. (spelling?)
the only change id like to see made, is 2-3 bpos of each type given out in the first wave, instead of only 1, which leads to silly prices, that eventually drop and stabilise when the others are released.
releasing only 1 bpo of a ship everybody in eve wants was pretty lame imho, a cruel joke by the Gm's? (seriously, if a player has trained indy 5, you can guarantee its for gallente)
