Most any trackball. Works fine for EVE, especially in long sessions where a mouse can cause carpal tunnel syndrome. No pain with a trackball, no fatigue, going all day long. Works especially well with twitch games like shooters, easily double my frag rate compared to using a mouse. Not sure about the thumb control models, but the center ball models are just deadly. I'd say kensington or logitech. Used kensington for years, easy to repair, outlasted any of my old mice, but I'm liking my new logitech, less issues with routine maintenance. Cord or cordless, it doesn't matter since it doesn't move apart from moving from desktop to armchair or wherever. Mice are for cats. |

Consistent top three in 64 slot shooter with avg ping says it all to me. That's 20 to 1 ratio on global leader board tracking. A mouse is a hindrance, moving a wrist and hand is far slower than index and middle finger. |

Still works fine ..on my Atari 26 Trackballs are modern, work just like upside down mouse and with all the modern architecture that's in a quality programmable optical mouse. Googling for logitech & kensington trackballs will bring up some good stuff. |

Grimpak wrote:people who say trackball sucks it's because they are not used to them. Absolutely true. When I got my first PC trackball, it took time to get used to it. Once I got used to it, it took time to find the perfect settings for me (2/3 speed and between 1/10 and 1/8 acceleration). I have a nice performance boost from using it, so I stick to it. I still have a mouse, an M$ wireless optical that I use with 3D modeling apps, though I have been using my new trackball more often with those apps. I use a pen tablet with my graphics/drawing apps. The rest, especially twitch based games, trackball does best for me.
But trackball vs. mouse really depends on the individual. You a drummer? Probably a mouse. I sux at physical drums apart from drum sequencers. You a guitarist or synth player (I do both), trackball will probably fit you better than a mouse. |
