If empire ice gives so little and there's no rare ice to mine, and if no one else is stupid enough to mine ice and sell it (due to the poor returns), how does one go about getting enough fuel to supply even a medium POS for any length of time.
I've tried and tried and my corp has to admit defeat once again. The reduction in empire ice yields all those months ago has made it all but impossible for us to deploy a medium POS. As the title suggests it's liquid ozone that's the problem. We just can't find any to buy that isn't either in tiny quantities or isn't on sale for a insane price. Mining it ourselves would take most of our game time and to be honest spending all our time on something that's going to probably loose money isn't the smartest thing to do.
We'd hoped to deploy a POS just for the fun of something new. Mission rewards and isk raised by selling the moon minerals we mined would pay for the fuel and we'd mine some to make up the short fall. We knew it would never break even but as I said, we've been playing EVE for a long time and we wanted to do something new just for the fun of it.
I don't want to complain about a hard life, poor me wants help cos I can't afford to play with the big boys toys blah blah blah. But would CCP please please please consider taking a look at ice yields and seeing just how hard it is to get enough of this stuff. It has no value to miners, it takes a year and a day to mine and the only ship that can mine it can only fit 3 lasers. There has to be something that can be done, changing the liquid ozone yield back to 48 would be a huge help, or reducing the ice laser cycle time to 4 minutes instead of 9.
I can't be the only oe who's thinking this.

Yes have some 0.1 and 0.2 but very few... so need to have a really big fire escort , if it's a small one pk will come, kill your Large barge and warp away... if too big escort it will make them come to challenge you.

i sell Ozone and i hope that CCP set up the ice miner II's so that is half the time or less per pull depending on the skills that you have that would be nice

Put more buy order for a slightly higher price then, your need will be fullfilled, one way or the other...

Anyone done the math to give some idea of roughly how much a buy order should be to make ice worth mining. I'm willing to bet it's a lot more than most are willing to pay.

I mine dark glitter in an 0.1 system and then sell the ozone for 640 ISK per unit. I'm making a killing! You should see the insane profit I'm making, even though my price is the lowest in the region. I almost pity the people who hafta pay me so much for this stuff.
Oh, sorry, you ARE one of those people who are paying ridiculous amounts of money for this stuff. Perhaps you should sell your pos and come mine ice? =D
