I've just recently upgraded to a 2Mbps with Nildram (www.nildram.net) and I'm wondering what kind of speeds I should be getting. I've been getting speeds of 238K/b.
Is that good for a 2Mbps line?

8 bits in 1 byte. 2 megabits should give you 250Kilobytes/second. 238 is pretty close, so your line is probobly capped at exactly 2 megabits and that extra little bit is going to TCP overhead.

Yep 238 is just about right. You should be getting close to 250 but when you are getting 238 12kb doesnt make a big difference. It might just be server issues, latency

Goto adslguide.org and run the speed test there. It will compare it and say what overheads you may or may not have |

Blueyonder Broadband
If I've told you once, I've told you a thousand times Josh, go with a decent broadband provider - and I just did a test download on a 2mb download line - hit around 278kb ;-)
