I'm sure Dust will have space stations based conference rooms / common halls (they are in video clips already) - and EVE pilots will be able to use them too sooner or later. |

Situation is EVE is a set of mini-games and meta-games. None of them are too interesting and perfect: PvP is mediocre, FW is mediocre, trade, craft, PI, PvE, null, WH, exploration, politics, forums - everything isn't too interesting by itself. Strong point of EVE is diversity of play styles: I can switch to another activity if I'm bored with my present stuff. EVE's diversity of features hold me in the game for years. And WiS could add much more to that diversity making EVE more attractive and re-playable.
Good news: now I can switch to SWTOR for space avatar based sci-fi MMO PvE, Planetside 2 for "space" avatar based sci-fi MMO PvP and probably StarCitizen in the future for sci-fi trade and craft. And maybe to PC version of Dust if I'll be tired of Planetside 2 (but probably I won't - that game is fun)
TL;DR CCP undermined EVE attractiveness by ditching WiS development and newly available sci-fi MMO games successfully fulfill gaps in EVE gameplay. |

Indeed. I'd pay for ability to open the damn door, look out of station window onto planet and departing ships. Also for some alien pets, plants, pet plants, and - of course! - few exotic dancers in CQ.
Just it should be single retail package for sane price instead of set of separate $70 items. |

Trion is making Planetside/Dust-like shooter (Defiance) with release in April, they are going to publish f2p MMO strategy next year, they've released *huge* expansion for Rift - not to mention they've already expanded the game beforehand with much more content during last year than I've seen in EVE since 2010.
SOE is doing something like that as well - released Planetside 2, support multiple games, develop Everquest Next.
Truth is CCP is weaksauce. |
