I am just curious to see what solutions other people use to connect to their computers remotely. I myself login to my home machine from work, in order to fire up Eve, reskill, and check my personal emails. To do this I am using RealVNC.
Though I am aware that there are other versions such as TightVNC and UltraVNC, as well as the old Windows Remote Desktop. Plus there are always the *expensive* options such as GoToMyPC, Laplink, PCAnywhere.
So anyone had success/failures with any of these?

If you think you can do a better job, go find yourself a datacentre to host a box, get a copy of Visual Studio, and STFU.

You mean that actually works through RDP? (not tried VNC) but RDP when I tried it just couldn't hack it. 2meg line, 256 upload - and I just put it down to not having remotely enough outgoing bandwidth.
If you use VNC though, and it works then might give that a go?
(good solution to train some skills if not actually 'play' the game)

I use UltraVNC and works fine, though have the colours set to 256 and is to slow to do any fighting, so work a good time to get rid fo that tedious hauling.
Couldn't get it to work over remote desktop, and if you try rd first, then your vnc is unlikely to work until you reboot your remote pc.

RDP dies, but realvnc works 'ok ish'. The frame rate is lousy, but you can do most stuff via the overview/right click menu

Real VNC works ok for me with my 256Kbit upload from home, and 155Mbit line at work. I use RealVNC with 1024x768 64/256 colours. And yeah, it's enough to reskill and load/unload cargo.
Though I've heard UltraVNC/TightVNC are both much 'faster' than RealVNC.

Remote Desktop works well for me, but I run EVE in Windowed mode.
