Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I couldn't find a more appropriate one...
Is there any way to turn off the pictures some people add to the bottom of their forum posts? I've turned off sig display in the forum settings but this doesn't take care of it.
Now, don't get me wrong, they're all very pretty and beautiful and I'm sure you've spent hours getting them just right, but... they get friggin annoying after a while. Especially if posts are just OLFs.

Hi
Not a 100% effective reply to this but i know what you mean. I surf at work and try not to have the pictures around as someone might walk in and see im not working
I click the topic button and as soon as it loads i click stop on the top bar, this stops it downloading the sig pictures leaving you with text for those 'special' covert forum reading

Otehr option is to use firefox under tools->options->web features there is an option to turn off images loading from websites other than the originating website (i.e. all the sigs) ----------- "Remember people: Omber is the biggest evil ever created, DO NOT let it get to you!" Waagaa Ktlehr, BDCI

1. Install Firefox browser.
2. Install AdBlock add-on.
3. Right click on image. AdBlock image.

All good responses, but it would be pretty simple for the forum overlord to add an option to suppress signature images. Personally I'd love to have the option.
No offense to the sig makers out there. But for every gallery-worthy signature (Star Fraction is one of my faves) there are about 10 seizure-inducing ones.

Mr Omber Zombie's solution is very effective. Try the Firefox browser and turn off all images not from originating site if you don't want to load peoples signature graphics.
Tbh I didnt think many people still use Internet Explorer anymore. Poor security, slow, gets hijacked easily, no tabs...hmm the list goes on..but thats another discussion for another forum...

Edited by: Weebear on 26/04/2005 14:28:31 Edited by: Weebear on 26/04/2005 14:27:18 I installed the AIS Web accessibility toolbar to turn off all images and javascript easily, as well as making all text black and white.
Firefox is not an option at work for me because it cannot do NTLM authentication.
Edit: Ooops, forgot the link for the toolbar. http://www.nils.org.au

Just a little tip for the Firefox attachment: Always edit the block to all images from that source rather than just that one. I think this option comes built into the browser even without the adblock extension.
Sometimes I just visit random links because I like killing the banner ads so much.
I'd never block a sig though.
