Hi all,
I like exploration and I go for Radar/Magneto sites mainly, currently in high-sec. Since I would like to go to low-sec or even null-sec I was wondering if you could help me figure out what ship to use and where to go with my skills in the long run.
I would prefer an 'all-in-one' ship. Meaning fitted with salvager, analyzer and hacking device and being able to clear all the sites found from the rats roaming/spawning there.
I just tried with my T1 Arbitrator in low-sec. I found a Radar site in 0.3 but was not able to clear the rats :/ Maybe you can help me to understand what to use best (Amarr ships) and explain a little bit why you think that's good. I have good Drone skills and was thinking going for the Pilgrim. Thank you very much for any advice!

Tengu is almost certainly a better answer but to stay in the Amarr line the Legion works as well. I used to do high- and low-sec exploration in an all-in-one Legion with good success. |

Oi! I will have you know that I'm quite pleased with my lowsec exploration Proteus. Sure, I've lost a few, but only because I got greedy. |

I am in the same exact shoes as you! I currently fly the arbitrator as an all in one highsec vehicle. It can do some lowsec ones but it requires your piloting skills to be top notch. You have to basically fly away from them as your drones take care of them. I have done a great deal of research, and the Pilgrim can do the low sec sites better. The legion even better. Your worst enemy is other players though, so use the ship dependent on what you can afford to lose. Currently I am exploring wormhole space as I have found that a ton of fun as well.. travelling into the unknown. Hope this helps! Please feel free to ask anymore questions. |

In terms of low sec, how about a Harbringer?
8 high slots, so you can fit a salvager/probe launcher/cloak and still have 5 slots + a 50m3 drone bay AND at a price that doesn't break the bank. And you can fit a pretty decent tank on one of these.
Also a myrmdion isn't too bad.
You mentioned null + low sec. I think these are two totally different animals as far as exploration goes, I don't think you can lump these two together.

Harbinger is good for killin rats... but the main problem is it's slow. all but the most inept of gate camps will kill you. |

Maybe the new T1 exploration ships, after the expansion? And even more so the T2 versions of these, the so-called Science Frigates thatCCP has hinted vaguely at that we might get some time next year.
At the very least the T1 frigates are very cheap to lose, and for that reason alone they seem to me to be a good first step into low-sec and 0.0.

sentry ishtar...but depends a bit on region
(love the ishtar in guristas space...salvager/codebreaker/hacker all on one ship and still have a tank to run a 9/10 solo in guristas space)
stealth no ammo small ship great tank |

For Mag and radars, you could try the Gila
DPS via drones, so high slots available for salvager/cloak/probe tanks will be reduced a little with both a Analyser and Codebreaker in mids Low slots for DCII, Drone dam mods Shield relays (or even warp core stabs is really paranoid)

Tengu, but if you want a cheap, albeit no way as good alternative, an arbitrator with TechII cloak can work in the radars and magsites of lowsec.
Edit: Also this thread should be in Ships and Modules really. Edit 2: Derp, just re-read your OP. You've already tried arbitrator. hmm. I've had some success with arbitrator (800mm armor fit) but at times it can be challenging and you may have to warp out. Just stay at range from the cruisers, seemed to work for me. |

And drone bay allowing (which I suspect it will), once Salvage Drones become available, there's no need to spend a HIGH slot on a Salvager II.
