AFAIK not all space is claimed (who knows maybe it is) and even then not all alliances are exclusionary. Some will allow pilots not enemies or pirates by.
And even if the space is claimed it doesn't mean you will get insta-BBQ'd for going there. Hell an afk shuttle on autopilot could beat a camp on the jump-in side of a gate.

These misconceptions were propogated out of fear and ignorance of life outside the Empire fence and kept alive by chest beating posts along of the lines of "X Alliance WTFPWNS everyone in Y region" and "Ebil pirates eating babies in A2-V27." It's meant to scare and intimidate everyone, but its really just a psyche job.
0.0 IS DANGEROUS. No doubt about it. If you go there you probably will get attacked and might die.
Ok to clear this stuff up a bit.
1.All 0.0 space is claimed by someone, and thier power is supreme because if they need any help they just call on thier neighbors there not at war with.
I dont think any alliances are taking new corps out there, and if they are there charging somthing like 50mill a week for it.
2.true, not all choke points are camped. Recently I attempted a venture into fountian, made it all the way to the nearest station, first guy that undocked pod killed me.
So ya i guess it might be concivable that you will live for a day out there, assuming of course you stay away from any stations, or places where anyone else goes.
3.these are not misconceptions, they are the truth. Stop shooting everything that is not blue and you will see more people out there.
4.It is dangerous, if you go there you will lose your ship, and will probably be pod killed.
1. Yes you're right, Pure Blind and Syndicate springs to mind, are these claimed? NO! Yep, and there power is supreme, 'cause they will gather their alliance mates to a big blob to kill a single newbie miner/npc-hunter. He's clearly a threat to there territory.
2. You ventured into Fountain? Fountain right now is filled to the top with FA/IMP and their counterparts. RKK and BNC springs to mind, so yes, that might not be the best place to venture out.
For gods sake, stop staying in Empire because you're will get killed/podded. It happens to everyone and it's not the end of the world. Yes you will be upset the first time, and maybe second time, but then you will start to realise that 0.0 is fun, because it challenges you. Not like using all your playing time doing agent missions in Niyabainen.
It's just game after all, play it as you want, but don't get set in your ways because of common misconceptions. |
