Hi,
I have been playing Eve for over a month now and had no problems what so ever. Hoever in the last 3 days the game has hung my computer countless times forcing me to use the reset button.
I haven't installed any new software or hardware and have checked for spyware and viruses. Plus I have just gotten and installed the latest VC drivers. And still the game hangs when I am typing into the chat window.
Now I can be barely 5 mins in game before it all hangs up and I have to reboot.
Is it just me ? Or is this something that can be solved somehow ?
Many thanks.

Great, still no responce from my petition so I decided to reinstall. Now I can't even get to the character selection screen before the game hangs my conputer.
What did theye do in the last patch ? Were there any specific things that may cause this ?

I have this problem too, it's to the stage I don't know if I want to even play. It's no fun having to reset my PC every 10 mins :(

Edited by: Lebowske on 01/05/2005 01:17:33 Have you tried to update your videodrivers / sounddrivers? I think there's a couple of post suggesting what version to use. You could always try a reinstall of the game, although I doubt that it's the game installation thats corrupt. It may sound like a overheat problem ...
Or - Maybe you guys could send in a bug report (follow the instruction to run DXDiag etc).

Well heres a list of things that ive done that help considerably. Turn off your soundcard from the add or remove hardware. install the Omegadrivers for your graphic card from www.omegadrivers.net (i think) Install Clockmon set it to 1 min interval, 100milli sec difference. Including the backward setting.
The soundcard may seem drastic, just experiment. See how you get on with this lot first.

It seems to happen when there is a lot of items trying to load, like when I warp to a gate.

Aha...insufficient memory syndrome...but it could be either video or system RAM (your game cache may be getting a little clogged up) Corp Chief Engineer |

One of the first things I tried was to install the newest Nvidia drivers, followed by a new install of the game. This has not worked.
I have a 128Mb GeForceFX VC and 768Mb of main RAM. So this should not be a problem either.
To be honest I have run out of ideas, luckily I have a second computer that Eve seems to be ok on, so may be its not the game but something strange happening to my HW. Though why it should suddenly happen I don't know.

It sounds like a memory issue to me.
You say you have 768mb of ram, what brand and speeds are the sticks??
Also do you have virtual memory on or off and what is the page file size?

I have this happening also, previously I could run 2 accounts winamp and stuff, so it wasn't a system issue. The other day i had graphics go stupid, and had it hang up, i ran virus scan, updated video drivers and stuff, and it doesn't appear to be any better :/
WTF DID U DO TO EVE IN THE LAST PATCH!?!

My 512Mb Ram is a Kingston stick, not sure what speed, but probably 400, the other came with the computer and I have no idea sorry.
Virtual memory is turned on, and I believe the page size is 1152Mb, (sorry again, my operation system is in spanish and it doesn't translate well for some reason on that window)

I had the same issue recently on my notebook (GeForce 4, 4200) with total system freeze. It turned out to be the video card. After an identical part replacement, all is well.

I just went from graphics driver 71.84 to 66.94 and I get double the fps. I'm also hoping it'll stop this freezing thing.

it looks like my problem was the video card overheating, after i cleaned the fan (i only noticed how much it was dirty when i tried another card) eve didn't crash for all the day.
