Stuff like this kinda irks me. When I was in high school (in US), I had four semesters of electronics. I could have taken two more semesters, an advanced course (beginner, intermediate, advanced, 2 sems ea.). Was absolutely my fav class in HS and fav of many of my classmates. Classes were full, some people that registered late didn't get seats.
But before I could start the advanced course, the school decided to shut the electronics classes down. Why? because not enough girls wanted to take the class. In fact no girls wanted to take the class, at all, it was all guys, and guys ecstatic that the class existed, it was friggin awesome. But they friggen shut it down because NO GIRLS WANTED TO TAKE THE CLASS! F-ing idiots these school administrators.
So now I hate crap like this, idiots crying because boys like one thing while girls like something else. It's friggen natural! Yet it's not exclusive, where in that list are there toy police making sure only boys play with guitars or workbenches? It's just more stupidity, multiplied many times over now compared to when my HS crushed us under their boot of lib fascism. Well one good thing, I saw it for what it was, and attributed to my social and political development driving me far from their idiot camp. |

Lots of boys grow up without things like science and construction being encouraged, yet still go on to do those things. So i find it difficult to believe the entire reason more girls aren't interested in those fields is because they weren't encouraged.
I mean, there are virtually no women involved in those fields, so there's more going on here than a simple suggestion they shouldn't be. "It's no use crying over spilt milk, because all the forces of the universe were bent on spilling it." ~William Maugham |

I bought my Son Lego when he was a child Now he's all grown up and has a little Girl, which means Lego buying time again.

I've seen Women and the like wearing pink quite proudly. Always appreciate seeing it on them too.
..actually, my problem isn't with that, but with some of the toys out there intended to 'train' children in the absence of their parents, or intended to distract the child so the parents can do other things..
I was watching one commercial recently, and this child was clapping to a Fisher Price gadget with the 'parent' beside her, (I believe it was a her anyway), and when the 'mother' started clapping, the child looked at the action like it was the most bizarre thing it had ever seen. Following that, it went right back to interacting with the gadget.
Peculiar? Ever wonder what the electronic substitution for parenting and social interaction is doing to the more recent generations? zubzubzubzubzubzubzubzub |

The article is just a long troll Post. Also I don't see what it is in particular that prevents one from buying a gray telescope for your daughter if that is the sort of thing she's into. The same doesn't hold true for all that pink **** though.

Hrm. On a related note, I'm getting my daughter a stethoscope for Christmas. I was considering pink, but I may go with traditional black instead.

Good call; I hear that the black ones are slightly bigger than the pink ones.
What?
Because they're for boys and not for girls I mean. Which makes no sense in the real world cos girls mature faster than we do (if we do at all) and are bigger at the age where you'd be buying them toy stethoscopes anyway so it would make sense for the bigger ones to be for the girls for reasons of scale surely..... meh.... Toy stethoscope? Nope, getting her a real one. The toy one just doesn't cut it anymore. =/ (note to self, start saving for med school.)
