Oh, and one other thing (because for some reason the editing fuction is brkoen for me):
Playing Eve for me is much like Hippey described it: interacting with the buddies in my and other corps.
I think if all you care about is killing people, you'll get bored eventually. Sure, it's fun, but it will get tiresome after a while. Make some friends!
/me waits to be called a carebear for mentioning the "friends" word.

I'll admit. I am sorry to see PC Pirates very limited in their ability to go into .4 space. Seeing as my Corp was planning on targeting them with in a few weeks.
But right now I have a blast running my own Corp. Building up funds for Cruiser BPs. Forming alliances and making enemies with other Corps. Looking for those new "uber" drops to help my combat pilots out. Being able to last more than 5 secs in duals against my Tactical CO.
And most of all, chatting with my Corp-mates. Community is stronger than PvP will ever be.
Sorry to see PC Pirates giving up so easily, I guess I'll just have to pick fights with Corps that do mine wrong. Of course it sounds like Setec is still doing his thing...at least there's one smart pirate that we can chase after.

You want an honest answer? I have not really done a damn thing since this patch went in. I have hung around the help channel helping out if I can. Checking the recruiting channel to see if there is some way to merger with another corp, or if there is a corp we could go work for instead of a crew of 2.
I have a ship, have modules, have mined, have killed pirates in 0.0, have produced products,have tried trade routes, etc.... etc.... etc...
Ok, now what should I do in Eve? There is no role play, I don't need money unless I want to get a battleship, so I am trying to figure out what I am supposed to do next.
Frankly, I just haven't played the past few days. Not sure what I am going to do next.

Agent Shield, just keep building up your capital base until CCP starts the storyline. If they don't and you get too bored at least you can sell your stuff on ebay.

Along these lines, what is left to do in Eve?
The original question was what are you doing in Eve, but what is everyone going to do on the continuation of playing the game?
IE: Will you continue to do the things you do now?
Will you mine, at what point will it get boring?
Will you kill pirates, at what point will it get endless that you all you do is get money with nothing to spend it on.
So is this all Eve has to offer?

What do I do in EVE? In terms of actual gameplay, I sit docked in a station in my BSC Staff Cruiser. Occassionally I pull a Mining Cruiser out of the hanger to join in a corporate operation.
Otherwise, I coordinate the Communication Department, monitor forums, update databases, and involve myself in EVE's plot (yes it does exist, it's just very rudimentary right now).
I'm considering branching out into agent missions, however, as it stands I'm having a lot of fun :)

Considering I don't seem to spend as much time online as many others round here, I'm probably easier to please. I'll usually hook up with some corp members and go pirate hunting. I even decided to venture in mining. Not that I had to, but simply because I wanted to contribute to the corp a bit more.
I am having fun. The corp is growing, we're working more and more together and we have got plans to branch out. I can imagine that if you play 24/7 though all of that might begin to wear on you.
I think the other problem is that these games tend to only be as fun as you make them. It sounds cliched, but if you don't try and create your own storylines then nothing is really going to happen.

Fact is that I am trying hard to not "powerplay" Eve, invested too much time in EQ and Shadowbane, so I keep my MMORPG playtime limited now.
That surely help me to stay in the mainstream of the game.
But I won't throw only flowers at Eve, I know that the high end is lacking immensely, and today a friend who usualy is a powerplayer in EQ asked me if Eve was good, my reply was "Yes, but not for you yet, the game have immense potential, but try again in 6 months to 1 year...".

I think there is plenty to do. You just may not like doing it, in which case .... well, you know...
I think some people got too much too soon, because of the inbalances of the early game. As patches brought balance they also brought a deeper clivage between those who had and those who had not.
When some corps where ready and itching for a fight, a big majority of the player base just couldn't afford to go to war.
We have an example here. I dont know their story but i bet the Eve Marshals were building up to a sustainable level until they decided to do what they are ment to do: hunt the outlaws.
The potential for PvP is still here, and i like to believe it will grow as things develop and the playing field is somewhat leveled.

The thing is, I am starting to see the limitations of freelancing and want to join a good crop into PvP. Any suggestions?

Hmmmm what do I do for fun in Eve.....
1)Hunt NPC Pirates
2)I've actually tried to look for the best screen shots to take, Ya know flying around suns, Getting diffrent angels with the lighting, just trying to find that one perfect picture
3)Hooking up with other friends and exploring the deepths of space. I'm talking alphabet land.
4)Sparing with my friends in cruiser vs Frigate combat, testing out which weapon loadouts and strategies work best, testing jammers and such as well, Also field testing the ranges on the guns since the new patch I have some intresting loadouts now.
5)Ever had a roid race :)
6)Heh still takin those beautiful pictures
7)Making good relations with other corps I meet
8)Having a good time with my buddies online
Yeah I know its a short list but if you choose not to enjoy something chances are you never will no matter how hard you try.
Just sit and enjoy the game. I mean this is entertainment after all. Hell I can sit and stare at the clouds all day and be content.
Then again I am a simple woman :)

I've done all but one thing in this game. I started on day one of the live release, mined pyrox till I got a Probe. Moved out to 0.2 system and mined Gneiss till I bought a rifter for 499k. Joined a corp with a friend. Got tired of working for the man so a friend and I stole their indy and recycled their corp hangar. Pulled the same trick again but this time I stole an exequror (did have to work my ass off in that corp before they'd give me one). Set that beast up for mining made 18 million isk in a weekend mining then bought a thorax and loaded it for bear. Now that they nerfed the pirate loot drops I have nothing to do but kill players. Put in an application for m0o academy. *wink* Hope this game gets interesting again... cause I know its going to get boring when I buy a battleship and there isn't anything else to do but what i can already do with my thorax....

Mining? I liked mining..until no roids spawn, container nerf, market collapse with topline cruisers for 6mil.
NPC hunting? Well..it gets boring, reminds me of XP threadmill and cashfarming in DAoC.
Hell I think NPC¦s might actually be more fun if it was threadmill.
Trading? Not really, I like to sit with my computer and do something. Not just change cargo each 20mins without entertainment.
Research? Well..yee, look at all my copies and mineral lvl x and Production lvl x. Thats about it.
Production? Not since market collapsed and ships are hardly sold. Due to almost none lose any now.
Social and interaction? I got IRC for that.
Corp wars? No, even those I fight hide at stations forever. It only eliminates one corp. from the game. Its not about fun cept for the winners, but there is rarely winners.
Build station, Titans? Well, most have minerals stocked in oceans. So after add it will be build asap. Then what?
Make your own content? EVE is less and less playermakable for content. So that is dead too. Unless we talk podrace maybe.
I don¦t see anything left than pod a few more and then nothing else.
Space is empty, EVE is empty.

well, im so bored, that i can fly all four races ships, up to lvl 3 cruisers... ive tried every single cruiser and frigate... currently my next step is mining for a production run of our tempest BP... but wtf.. if i go into tempest ow, what do i have to look forward too... so ive just started training some learning skills to lvl 5... this also is a sign of me believing this game "can be good"(but its major lagging on content outside empire space, and inside for that matter)... just bought a bestower, and bought all the scrap leavings of electronics around lonetrekk and have gathered it, just on my way to sell it... now im going out to find something that inst leavings from the people who enjoys the time right after DT(downtime)(traderoutes)... another step i might go for, is to own every single frigate and cruiser... and offcourse the tempest... maybe lter on an apocalypse for mining .. ? ... yawn... i remember first time i set foot in the universe... wow was it great ;) during beta... i imideatly closed down my AO account... thinking this would be so great, that AO would vanish from my memory... but no, ive opened up my AO accoun again, and dont know what way ill turn right now...

Kiran Kidashuen was the only one who even came close to giving a good answer. The majority of the answers looked to me like little kids covering thier ears and yelling "la la la la la i can't hear you la la la la m0o sucks la la la". The answer I most agreed with was shintai.

You can mix and match everything for a while, but eventually it will stagnate. However, the most interesting thing I have come across is people who role-play. I do not want to know what films people have seen or how their kids are doing at school. At the moment all you come across is people of the street playing a stats/ make money game. Use your imagination make encounters a little more interesting. If you read your race background there is plenty to go on. There should be race rivalries and feuds. Maybe the developers should steer things by using events to emphasize story lines and produce friction.

The problem with that Valan is the game does nothing to promote role play and everything to promote stats/making money. A simple example is a Minmatar in a Bestower. Chess and Monopoly have as much incentive for role play as EVE.
Also role players creep me out.

Trading is only an afk activity in it's simplest form. Real trading involves a lot of interpersonal skills, in cutting deals and making business connections.
Those who think trading in EVE is the Trade Goods section of the market are the same who think combat is the NPC pirates.

These days - NPC pirates, though I wish there was more variety in their tactics and appearance. Just getting shot with something that looked or sounded different would be a start... :)

I¦m having more fun than in any other game I¦ve played.
Try not ranting on the forums and playing the game a bit more... that helps. Also try to do something else than being "highend" as fast as you can. Another good trick is to communicate with people in other ways than to blow em away... try being nice for once in your life. And here¦s an even better one... try not to focus on the things you don¦t like.

You have non destroyable player made stations and you will destroy the last hope of pvp in this game Archemedes. What would be the point of going to an enemy corps system? All that will happen is the defenders will dock in there invunerable station while the attackers camp the jump gates hoping the defenders come out to play. |

Me and my corp are now planning wich strategy we will have to take over a system of our own. We scout for such, while we at the same time scout for new systems to put our products in.
We do trade runs, to put out our products, through dangerous terrotories, and its quite a project to get our escorts and trade ships to run smoothly side by side, while at the same time have our scout clearing areas and send out warnings about PC pirates and NPC pirates.
We are in an alliance, with its own agenda, and we, through diplomacy, aims to mould this allinace into something that not only will serve its own purpose, but also our purpose.
We are also planning our strategy, once the stockmarket will arrive, and we have boardmeetings, discussing wich product we should start produce, and how/if we will be able to distribute that product by ourself.
At these meetings we also discuss if we should buy all products in a system, which are being sold at extrem low prices, and then move them, to start selling them at other places, while at the same time sell our own products at that place, to a higher, more resonable price.
