Jamming will now be effective against anti-BS Ravens, but they can opt to sacrifice some damage for FoF.

Hitting smaller ships with limited damage Consider this, a turret pilot can increase thier tracking skills which when coupled with tracking computer mods allow them maximum damage and literaly every hit landing on frigs and interceptors - would you say this is a fair in comparision to raven pilots - who under your proposed changes will have an extremely hard time scoring any sort of decent damage on a small craft? I would suggest a separate skill for missile agility to fairly balance it.
Given you've stated you are a Raven pilot I'm guessing you don't have a clue about how difficult it is to hit an interceptor with a long range turret ship. Even at 100km, if you have a pilot who knows what he is doing (read: Decaying orbit) you will almost never hit, not 'maximum damage' not even 'light damage' .
Then consider the rate at which said interceptor is closing, a few seconds and you have NO chance of hitting them whatsoever The only time you will swat them out of the sky is if they make the mistake of turning into your turret fire...
Try an ABing Inty as well. Can't be touched at all by medium turrets in a 15km orbit, and takes very light damage while approaching.

Testing a Raven (BS III and Torps III) against a Blood Arch Priest (110k) and am getting 90 damage per torp average with Juggernaughts.
Those big cruiser spawns are going to be a killer.

And missles are better how? i would like to see how the changes would affect a raven against a hac or other t2 type ships.
You might actually die to a close range HAC now, kinda like turret ships do...
Welcome to the club
a bs should never loose against a single smaller ship no matter if it is t2 or not. or for that fact against 2 smaller ones. No matter what you say a appoc can still hit smaller ships with large guns when at max range with no loss to its damage output.
Sorry. You have obviously never been in PVP. BS at their optimal own smaller ships, but BS optimal is usually greater then 30km. And at gates encounters tend to be at 30k or less. Once under 10k, most large turrents can't hit anything. Only drones and torps keep tech 1 cruisers from killing BS solo.

With one MAPC I was able to get 4 launchers on a kestrel easily, and standard gear.
Kestrel with new missiles will own any turret T1 frigates, and probably Intys as well. Each light does slightly worse damage then a cruise (shooting at frigates) but the ROF difference means standard launchers come out ahead.
On second thought maybe these changes are a good idea

The real problem I see in this change is that anti-BS missiles will be bad against frigs at *all* ranges. Currently Large turrets are only bad against very fast mid range frigs, or close in ones. At long range most BS can pop a frig in a few volleys.
I could wipe out most level 3 mission wpawns with old megapulse, in a few minutes at most. And any frigs that got close got droned. But with the missile changes a cruise missile will suck against a frig at 80km, just as much as one at 10km.
A simple change for this is to make missile damage increase the longer it is in the air (say at 70% of flight time it reaches max potential damage). This will mean cruise will be useful against frigs at long range, but no good up close.
Using this system would also mean that Raven DPS could be upped to make up for the intial flight time, but it would not make close range ships obsolete as it would do crap damage at close range because of the scaling.

Originally by: Genevieve Blue You want to kill frigates, do what everyone else has to - work at it - drones, smartbombs, small weapons, support.
Will large autocannons, blasters or pulse lasers hit for 100 damage, just because they're big - no.
They do at 60km and over. At 100km's even Intys can be in trouble from a sniper BS.
With the changes cruise are just as bad at 10km, as they are at 200km. Oh and *stationary* frigs can shake off cruise and torps, while Large guns would vaporize it.
The problem was that cruise and torp always hit frigs for a lot of damage, unlike large turrets. Now they always hit frigs for crap damage, even if the frig is 100km away with no speed boost running.

No. It may stop Ravens soloing every level 4 mission, but it will do nothing about normal rat hunting. For 0.0 spawns the Dominix is a vastly superior ship. You don't get the huge frigate and cruiser swarms that level 4 missions have. And the Dominix can easily kill most normal spawns except Angels (who aren't easily tanked). The Raven can also easily do those spawns as they are mostly battle ships, its just a sub-par choice because of ammo requirements.
Only an elite few can take on Commander spawns solo.
