When is a good time to use a capacitor booster? It seems most favor shield amps or cap rechargers over a cap booster.
I was thinking of using a heavy capacitor booster with 800 boosts on my Raven. With a X-Large sheild booster 2, my cap may last 1 minute while in combat before my cap is drained. With a cap booster in 1 minute I could boost 3600 cap (15sec cycle on cap booster), thus allowing my X-Large Shield booster 2 to work longer. I havent tried this set up yet, but I imagine I'd use: 1 X-Large Shield Booster 2; 3 Hardners; 2 Shield Amps; and 1 Heavy Capacitor Booster. This is vs just using the same setup with 3 amps instead of 2 amps and a cap booster. --------------------------------------------------- (\_/) Is this bunny or Picachu? Edited by: Magunus on 05/05/2005 18:14:36 The only reasons I don't like cap boosters are the size of those 800 charges. They're BIG. They take up a lot of room in the hold. The other reason is that once the charges are gone, they're gone, and you've got a mid slot sitting there doing nothing.
edit - that's not to say they don't have their uses. If you're more concerned about a single fight that won't last more than 2 minutes, cap boosters are great. ---

Oye, you're right. Cap boost 800 charges weigh 80m3 each. I didn't take that into account. But still the Heavy Booster can hold 5, and maybe put 3 in ur cargo after Torps and FoFs? Not much room left for loot then =(. --------------------------------------------------- (\_/) Is this bunny or Picachu? (O.o) Beware the bunny w/BIG sharp teeth (< >) Zster's kills |

It's not a module I like to fit unless I know the fight will be short.

They are fairly useful on a ship that doesn't rely on ammo. They certainly have higher output than a cap recharger II. They aren't too useful for PvE unless you only depend on them for emergencies though.
It wouldn't hurt for CCP to make the charges smaller though.
