If I accidentally picked a lower insurance package, and want to bump it up to max. Is there any way to do that?
It doesn't seem to give me that option.

Nope, you can't upgrade to the country club level.
That said, I think frig payouts need to be boosted and cruiser and battleship payouts nerfzored given the new and never changing state of affairs. A poor man's ride should be treated as a poor man's ride, innately disposable. There should be an even greater penalty to having the audacity to fly a BS.. poorly.

Sorry, can't go along with that. You see, I think that such an action would lower the number of targets I have to shoot at. And that would be a bad thing

Naw. Frig insurance especially has such a limited impact on the economy that it is harmless to pay them more.
"But people are gonna sometimes buy them to blow them up moron." Yeah, at what 5k isk profit per? And they have to warp to a belt each time? And they have to do it in a system where a mass manufacturer operates? Guess what, the miner and the manufacturer still got paid, the minerals were converted to isk, and the really desperate frig-blowerupper spent a whole lot of effort for not much reward and made a bunch of people happy.
"Frig prices will rise." Inflation will force up frig prices anyhow. There is no indication that people directly respond to such peripheral concerns when pricing goods anyhow. Indirect responses come from other sources of inflation. So long as ship payouts are tied to minerals prices rather than ship prices, then excessive competition will continue to exist between manufacturers.
No matter how much insurance pays out, even 40%, the amount of isk in circulation goes up. Isk never leaves the system unless it goes into products made by npcs. Also it gets spread out over time to more bank accounts.
As far as I am concerned, inflation is harmless and natural. EVE isn't like other mmorpgs, it is designed to handle inflation. Inflation also seems to have a peak although the elasticity of prices on goods like minerals is fairly low due to other mechanics.
The main thing I am opposed to is not Battleship payouts flooding the market, I just want to see those pilots feel a more noticable hurt when they lose one. BS are overpowered in the economic and PvP sense for little skills or tactical ability. I don't think CCP is going to go very far to rehabillitate frigs and cruisers despite the missile changes. They are too afraid to annoy the many people who have decided that BSes are the only way to go and the only thing that should matter in combat.

Hello, with each gun going for a million at least and not mention any tech II crap. It indeed hurts to loose a BS and insurance never actually covers what you paid for them because it is only mineral cost.

It's a minor tingle at best, nothing compared to losing a 100% tech 2 HAC.

We he said.
Fitting are ALWAYS where it "hurts" the most for those of us who don't do the ghetto fitting routine. Hell the guns on my tempest are almost 60 mil alone.

Insurance is fine, the bigger the ship the greater the penalty incurred on loss. Tech2 ships being toys for the richer boys with their crappy payout, which again is perfectly fine.
It should neither be removed not boosted (unless ship prices rise another 50%, in which case some reassesment of base insurance payout (AND cost) could be welcome. _______________________________________________

Actually can I repackage the ship and then assemble again? Then buy the better insurance package?

Yes - but you will lose any isk that you put into the current insurance, i.e. there will be no payout or reimbursement. Best route to go if you want to keep the ship. -- Thread Killer

Couldn't be helped with such a provocative title as "Raising the insurance level."
