The new changes are better. If you want the old jukebox, download the songs and have them play in the background.
yk So instead of playing and changing music directly ingame, we have to alt tabbing from and to game? Wow, what an improvement!!! All we asking for is option/checkbox to enable/disable jukebox. There is no need to disable dynamic music. We just want jukebox back with playlist option. Why shouldnt i be able to listening "where evil lurks" while i am in hisec? Nope. Rip the songs from song cloud and make your own Media Playlist if you want a jukebox. The new changes are better. yk
Better than what? I already said this is like that blasted door, they have removed a feature, not altered, not refined, removed. And it has been replaced by something which we have no control over but to turn it off again. do not understand why CCP would just flat out remove something thats been in the game over 10 years, seriously its not like a media player requires much upkeep, why should i be forced to run a program in the background when we already had the exact same thing in game working fine for over 10 years
bring back the jukebox |

They have taken away my jukebox that has exsisted longer then 99% of the employees at CCP with... no respect and did it litely... Why are you even restricting UI to the extent you guys are(Log display looks like a WoW UI addon)? They give us changes no one asks for... skinnier health bars and longer? because they where to short? or wide? no option to control or even classic? aparently a forum team changes forums, and art team changes ship models that arent bad... and we got the team supposed to be working on broken POS's EST 2006 playing with ship corp hangers... just STOP... STOP we dont need new things anymore.... or to fix stuff no one complained about.... spend the mann hours fixing the long list of To DO's that have been there for a long time... i know you like new projects but you dont finish them (avatar's?)..
This is your legacy with EVE... are you really improving the game for your players? that should be the only question... it was what got EVE from just frigs and cruisers... to what it is now... |

I would like the jukebox back. I like listening to the intro screen music, but generally turn off the rest of the music. Occasionally I'll play something like ghosts, merchants and miners (or whatever that track is called).

So I guess this means no more playing Alienhand through jukebox.
Running another program in the background seems counter productive, it also uses up CPU(more so then the increase of the Eve Client with the feature), and having to move or alt tab in order to switch music can be annoying at times.
Not a huge disappointing change, but disappointing non the less. |

I don't want the client/dynamic environment to control the music, I want to control the music through the client. Now I just turn the client music off all together... what a waste. I have my own music that I produced, lots of tracks, and I had them loaded into the client jukebox, all organized, been there for couple years while adding new songs to my folders. Now I gotta turn off the client music, minimize the client and fool with my player apps to play my music. It's stupid |

Doesn't your keyboards have multimedia functions? That's like standard today. Use a REAL media player and if you want to cycle through your tracks, just use the damned keyboard. Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot. |

Yes because hitting next 50 times to get to the song you want, compared to selecting one from a list is a step up.

lol keyboard media controls are for people that can't figure out how to program their dvd/blue ray players and just blink all the time. About as dumb as a rock propping open a door those keyboards are. A riot someone would even suggest that.
There was no reason to remove the jukebox, not for environment changes whatever. They already had music changes, would load that crappy music at certain gates, but you could open the jukebox and cancel it out by selecting something on the list. That surprise dubstep crap music or whatever it is, all friggen treble and raspy, off-fastbeat like you are about to get hit by a train but Arnold Schwarzenegger is seconds away from rescuing you along with the help of dark wing duck... as clowns throw confetti eggs in slow motion. |

it seems that certain persons are unable to understand the core of the problem
Show me how can i select specific track with multimedia keyboard without alt-tabbing to desktop or long cycling track after track. GÇ£If reality can destroy the dream, why shouldn't the dream destroy reality?GÇ¥ |

I don't suppose we could get a word from a Dev at this point could we? It would be nice to hear that there is a chance it would be brought back, or at least give the final word so we can move on and mourn the loss of a great feature. (Over the top?) After years of playing wow and Eve, i always giggled how good job Eve developers were doing compared to Wow ones, but oh my god.
This must be THE worst thing that has ever happened in Eve, i didint even know this change was coming.
Why the **** would anyone remove function that works very very well, and everyone likes?

Im a big ambient fan so I loved the jukebox and here are my thoughts on the changes
so far, I love the new music that plays in 0.0 but I feel it's too short, seems like its a 5 minute loop. If so, we are going from over an hour of music to a 5 minute loop which sucks. another thing is I feel the distance between too quite and too loud is too great. There are times I have to turn it up very loud to here the quite parts but then I get blown away when the loud part comes. may be a good idea to bring the two extremes closer together
now the music overall in 0.0 is pretty cool. love the haunting alien sounds but needs to be greatly expanded . |

I personally dont see the logic at all why CCP got rid of the jukebox, it fitted everyones need to not listen to the music at all, to people who liked just certain tracks, to people who like all of the music.. Taking away the music options completely was stupid, considering this was a client based feature not a server one, the thinking behind this is stupid... Having dynamic music doesn't work, just look at how Epic Games tried to do that with Unreal Tournament 3, all the music gets all broken up, choped into segments of whats happening in the gameplay instead of simply just playing a track...
ADD the jukebox back in.... |

doubt it, they knew some people would be upset and are prepared to be silent till it blows over, really only way to get them to respond is if goons decide they dont like it and flood the forums, seems the only way anything actually gets changed these days(good or bad) |

Some times i used to fly round looking at the planets and all the other eye candy in EVE with my edited play list .Loved the ambient music selection and the immersion it gave me in EVE.Now they want to spoon feed it to me are make me alt and tab ever other minute
Liked all the changes they made in the patch the new ship and combat sounds are great but for me this has single handed ruined my short experience of EVE .Ambient music and space go hand in hand for me but now Big brother is telling me they know better they know what and when i should listen to the music in game.Unless it comes back i wont renew simple as that .I want what t i paid three months of subs for which was a in game jukebox. In 20 years of gaming this is one of the worsed developer decisions i have seen |

I prefered it with the Jukebox, but really there should be a soundtrack list for high sec, low sec, null sec, wormhole and all as it was previously.
I love some of the new soundtrack I haven't heard before, but its annoying not being able to switch to listen to it again.
I loved some of the epic music and I like playing EVE in full screen, its annoying going onto Soundcloud just to change music now.
Jukebox with modifications I listed to be back PLEASE. |

OMGAWD,
I find myself in agreement with Lady Spank again. Gotta be due to the Doomsday date 12-21-12.

By the way, the Jukebox was an excellent option to have in game, especially for a change of mood when needed. There was no reason to remove it. Could have easily just incorporated / listed the new music settings into it.
As for the Eve Community being told about the removal before it was done, I didn't see it. Also not everyone logs into the test server.

Johan Civire wrote:I ask that question my self to. Why do the remove something thats works..... The need to space to enter new codes? or the are making something new? Like a auto tune when you walk in a bar or all rpg have no radio. Auto radio controll. So is this removing the jukebox something to do with the WIS project? or is that a wild guess.... The Jukebox was removed due to the implementation of the new dynamic music system that automatcially changes the selection of music based on what area of space you are in and sometimes what you are doing.
This selection may also end up being different depending on your race, but that is only a future possibility.
This new system appears set up differently from the old Jukebox, and when both were on the test server it caused some conflicts and confusion as both attempted to play all the time.
They don't play together nicely. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

I go on the test server all the time, and even I found it gone only by accident. Things are not really properly announced even 'over there'.
TBH, I'm of the persuasion that does not care if the Jukebox does or does not survive.
What I do find wrong was the indeed sudden surprise removal for most players.
But then we had no say in the change to POCO's and PI Taxes awhile back, but that's a thread of a different color and place............
But then we screamed on the Sisi Forums about the horrific UI changes and were ignored.
So this I believe was an inevitable circumstance and reaction.
edit: I get the feeling more and more that nobody is really, really 'in charge' at CCP. Things seem more and more random. Just had to throw that in. -á"I am not young enough to know everything." - Oscar Wilde |

Wow, people are dumb. Is it so hard to just use a third party media player with an in-game overlay if you don't want to spam your media keys?

It even has a TS3 overlay that far surpasses the plug-in. Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot. |
