Just to add my two penn'oth. I joined the BSC in EnB in early 2003. I watched as some of our members went off to the fledgling Eve game, but decided against leaving EnB at the time.
When EnB went to the great junkyard in the sky I signed up for Eve, and before long was joining the ranks of the BSC (directly, as a trusted BSC-er from another game).
I've never looked back. I'm one of these players with tough RL commitments (and an even tougher wife), but the BSC let me get on with things at my own pace.
There are freebies, I think I have had a frig, destroyer, cruiser, a couple of skills, and numerous upgrades, but freebies is not what the BSC is about.
Similarly, there are expectations that you will get involved in corp activities, but no pressure to do so, and time input is never onerous.
The corp membership is also fairly mature. We don't have too many hotheads (though we've had our share of those) and most players will make others feel welcome.
I look forward to a long and happy relationship with the game and the corp.

How does it feel to be a PvPer in BSC? It feels great! Our industrialists provide all the support you need, ships built at mineral prices, all the ammo and equipment you can waste, etc... and as far as the action goes, Great Wildlands provides us with a playground to blow off steam

Great Corp, I was in BSC: EnB, the first corp i'd ever joined, they were great & i rose in the ranks till i grew bored with the game (as did a lot of peeps), when i decided to try eve, my first stop was to knock on BSC's door. I again had a great time, the only reson i left was my gameplay tastes in EVE tended towards the Freelance solo style of play.
If i ever wanted something a little more structured i'd be back in a shot
Best of luck guys, i love waving to BSC's when i see em <><><><> Freelancing Corp |

likewise, my first 2 freighters finish building this week LOL
You can leave BSC but BSC dont leave you, that ship building lark gets in your blood
The acadamy is a great idea, EVE has more of a learning cliff than a curve, BSC has allways excelled at helping the new guy (Anyone remember the big BSC weaps for noobs givaway in EnB??), If your new to EVE you wont do much better than BSC. <><><><> Freelancing Corp |

I have been a member of BSC and BSCA - they are both fantastic corps :)
A lot of work goes into helping new recruits as well as helping older pilots with everthing from PVP skills and practice to supplying ships and equipment at mineral cost. This down to the officers and older members who are very committed to the corp and its members.
If anyone is looking for a corp to join then BSCA is for you

Thanks for all the nice comments. And particularly good to hear from ratty and other old (ahem) members.
Recruitment for this term's academy is going well. We may have to close the door soon so get onto BSC Public and arrange that interview with Amethist or Aryndia before you have to wait another couple months....
Room for another dozen...

Size of the alliance? your better off checking the alliance rankings ingame, were up around the top and our numbers are growing all the time. This will give you the best up to date info but off the top of my head were around 900 strong at the moment.
And your second question were kept busy but nothing we cant handle, great fun and great pvp experince.

I'm a BS pilot who has some PVP experience.
I like the idea of moving out to 0.0 and living amongst friends who know how to enjoy Eve.
PVP invariably leaves me broke, would the Corp replace ships lost on company operations ?
How much time would I have to spend in the Acadamy before being passed onto BSC itself ?
